Or do you mean a crackdown of like, normal sane people in the miltary only leaving the wack jobs by design?

If I hear one more person talk about how "if it had been any other vehicle besides the cyber truck it would have been worse" I might lose my mind. THAT'S NOT HOW EXPLOSIONS WORK and this was just some fireworks and camp fuel. It would have done the exact same thing in the bed of any truck.

I'd recommend more exposure to this line of thinking as a form of brain protection because we're in for a lot more of it. Motivated reasoning is going to be the reasoning of the day, regardless of said reasoning's proximity to actual fact. Objectively, Elon manufactures a giant, expensive piece of poo poo. Every time the giant, expensive piece of poo poo is revealed to be a giant, expensive piece of poo poo by burning down, loving up, or not working, everyone will simply defend the giant, expensive piece of poo poo because being wrong is now a core part of their personality. In fact, the world would be better with MORE giant, expensive pieces of poo poo and you should definitely buy one, you sheep! I'll take the GEPS Gun. My Spirit Otter posted:i mean trump has actively been talking about purging the military a lot and these two conspicuously timed events give him cause to do just that My optimistic take is that they'll likely suck at that too. During the first administration, they were objectively awful at stopping leaks of damaging information out to the press - and the leakers were MAGA-types. I can't imagine they'd be successful reaching out even farther from the MAGA circles - it's a level of skill they don't have. Not to mention that the military is having a real rough time recruiting at the moment, missing tons of targets. Same with police departments, secret service, etc.

Ya know all the times Trump wanted to start bombing Mexico, deploying the military domestically, gunning down protesters en masse and on and on? Every time some of that poo poo dribbled out of his puckered mouth anus someone slow walked it, said "Actually that's super illegal or outright unconstitutional", or leaked it to the press and raised a stink. All of that poo poo infuriated Donnie Goodbrains. When he farts out some words about the deep state that's what he's talking about. Those are the people he wants to crack down on so the next time he says Biden needs to be put on trial or what the gently caress ever everybody under him says "Yes". Assholes like Stephen Miller aren't going to be cracking down on special forces white supremacists and poo poo, they'll be giving out promotions.

And because conspiracy brain is right wing coded now, these men are either far right or politically incoherent but leaning right.

We already did "countering violent extremism" training after Jan 6th and they bent over backwards to avoid pointing fingers at any actual movements, so it was all phrased as this extremely hypothetical and abstract thing. They also took pains to reassure people that it's totally okay and your right to, e.g., think that lizard people control the world and that there needs to be a violent overthrow of the government; you just can't say that out loud at work.
