That and the New Orleans event make me worry about a crackdown within the military, but I'm probably doomering.

I'm not sure what you're going for here, but we desperately *need* a crackdown on SF weirdos running their own drug ops, Neonazis, and alt-right incels etc in the military.

Or do you mean a crackdown of like, normal sane people in the miltary only leaving the wack jobs by design?

Hope California can sort this one out entirely on their own because we're 11 days out from them being told to, at best, get hosed by any sort of federal responses. At worst, genuinely won't be surprised if he finds a way to actively disrupt recovery efforts to be a spiteful rear end in a top hat somehow.

Its funny because California is in reality a huge bastion of reactionary conservatives and GOP fundraising.

Maybe this will be the kick in the rear end to get LA to finally fix their zoning and development policies. We can dream.

Ban 401k's and bring back pensions after 20 years of service and make sure there is a robust system so the workers still get paid if the companies go under or get bought out.

Then there's the Triforce% ACE Showcase, in which dozens of people spent years reimplementing beta code, pre-release rumours, and "my uncle works at Nintendo" style late 90s/early 00s bullshit into Zelda 64 through a series of exploits and extremely high-precision replayed button presses, and then played it live on an unmodified Nintendo 64 and cartridge in front of audience of thousands.

For anyone who is coming into this without context, when they power the N64 on at GDQ its in the exact config you'd have had in christmas of '98 - So they're reprogramming the game with all of these extensive mods *live* as they do the run.

Weird seeing him & trump having friendly laughing exchange at Carter’s funeral. So you’ve been messaging this guy is super bad but still hang out with him? He’s ok now?

Career dems politicians are so used to drinking with their enemies in private and calling them fucks publicly that it is impossible for them to conceive that sometimes the other guy isn't just an empty suit parroting talking points for fundraising and is actually going to try to do bad things to people.

But also people with those careers never see the consequences of their actions in the way the working class does.

To them Trump and co are not a threat to anything related to their lifestyle.

The damage that objective PII and such that the OPM breach contains is pretty well quantified and understood. We have protections in place, weak as they may be, against people impersonating you or stealing your bank account.

The personal details of who you follow, what sort of videos you watch, your music tastes, who you PM, the contents of your PMs, who you send videos and memes too (This tracks even if you don't send it through the app itself fyi, that's what the little ? code at the end of stuff like youtube links helps with) - those details build up a very very invasive graph of "public" info that is suddenly dangerous when its ingested into a big data archive with everyone elses - and I think any of us can sort of understand the edges of that risk assessment in a way that people who aren't posting on a dead gay comedy forum don't ever consider.

It's also not ridiculous to think that there could be a talk show/podcast/whatever with a host that likes weed and wrestling and fart jokes but also has left leaning guests when things get political. It's not ridiculous to imagine a 30 years younger Howard Stern, for example. We had people like Stern, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert but they've gotten old and nobody has bothered to find younger versions.

Younger versions are either empty suits that nobody wants to listen too or are too leftist for the money to want to fund a show of.

Its a clear symptom of the Dem top level policies and fundraising system.

The only viable option is to counter message continually on all platforms in all spaces and all audiences, even if you’re talking to a brick wall.

If you counter message progressive leftist views in the nazi beer hall and they beat you up, worst case you’ve got a story all your cohort can tell in the local pub about how the nazi jerks punched your friend.

Most people wouldn’t have the guts to do so, and quite importantly, when someone does show up people often respect those guts, and if one nazi thinks twice because some dude in a pride flag stood up to his gang leader in public you’ve still made a non-zero amount of progress.

The other important point is to never cripple your message to try to “reach” demographics, be loud and proud and authentic and the demographic builds around you.

In my experiences the most vocal “woke” people who do the whole tut tuting about it are most frequently the ones doing it purely for the presentation of it rather than holding deep seated beliefs in equality, equity, and social reform. If there is anything a working tradesman hates more than being told they can’t use the “r” word anymore it’s being told by some ingenuous Karen. People can tell when you’re authentic and when you’re just being an obnoxious pedant for attention. My experiences are skewed by living in a WASPy liberal New England but it’s hard to imagine that facet being so different elsewhere.
