Are you a dragon? Most people don't really keep valuables in their homes, other than furniture or vehicles which aren't going to come anywhere near that amount. Maybe in some cases high-end collectibles or jewelry, but those would be separately documented and insured.

'Most people' also don't live in some of the wealthiest areas of one of the wealthiest cities on earth. There are people in the nicer parts of LA who have shoe collections worth more than most people's houses and some people have individual artworks worth as much as the nicest house in a random mid/small-sized city of your choosing. It's absolutely not uncommon in high-end new construction houses for people to spend as much on the interiors as the construction cost, and that doesn't even count personal effects like clothes or jewelry or cars. For most people their house is probably worth alot more than their stuff, but at the high end of the market it can often be the other way around.

Fair enough, I guess that stuff can start to add up. It still seems like a stretch if you exclude separately insured collectibles like artwork or classic cars, but even if it’s not part of the home insurance problem those can be even harder to replace.

I remember this vaguely, why was it a scary thing for the conspiracy loons? An Amero in that scenario would be still be weighted like 80-90% to US currency, so it would behave like a rebranded USD except Canada and Mexico are now tied to it. This could be concerning to someone from Canada or Mexico, but it seems like a good thing if you're in the US?

All and all I think Biden did a pretty good job, with the notable exception of Palestine. The country is certainly in a far better position than how he received it, and I would imagine we're going to take quite a tumble from here. Reading about a bunch of the proposed Trump tax-cuts and things are going to get a lot harder for a lot of poor people who relied on any kind of government grant or assistance.

This needs to be underscored more. The US pulled out of the COVID economic ditch better than pretty much every other developed country, including on inflation. The last 4 years saw the first increases in real wages across all income levels in a couple of generations. There was no new direct involvement in major international conflicts. Federal agencies were generally decently managed. There was no significant corruption.

It wasn't even drugs even though that's what most of the charges are on paper, that's just a convenient way to get a long sentence in the US. AFAIK (and the second circuit appeal does seem to confirm), he's not accused of selling or touching any drugs. He created a marketplace where he charged drug dealers and other criminals for selling their goods and services to other third parties.

(*) Wasn't charged tho because in one case (cartel) it was an informant and in the other he was literally just being scammed. No actual murders (he only thought he had people murdered) = no charges added.

This is really the more egregious thing but attempted murder is harder to prove and sentenced less harshly than a pile of "drug" crimes.

I cannot believe the hell Joe Biden and the Democrats have inflicted upon us and the world. How the gently caress do you lose to someone as dumb as Donald Trump, TWICE???

Especially trump, but really every republican president for half a century. It's like a group of friends getting into a car and 3 out of 5 insist on giving the keys to the one that drives like an idiot, until they inevitably drive into a ditch. So they begrudgingly give the keys to the reasonable driver who gets the car going in the previous direction again (changing direction is not brought up, of course), except this new person never wants to stop for fireworks or liquor. The centrist that changed their mind - who apparently has the memory of a goldfish - again changes their mind and insist that the idiot gets the keys back (the other two never wavered, even in the ditch) and is briefly having a good time until ... yup, it's a ditch again. Tea party/MAGA is the idiot driver now being visibly drunk, and still getting the keys twice.

It's the broad strokes of Nixon -> Carter -> Reagan/Bush -> Clinton -> Bush -> Obama -> Trump -> Biden -> Trump.

So Mt McKinley probably becomes the norm again (at least on maps and stuff, we will see about popular culture) since there’s no alternative authority to the US, but no idea what happens with the Gulf of Mexico/America.

This sort of stuff is especially just plain dumb. Organizations like USAID project power for minimal investment. It's a way do develop foreign markets in alignment with US companies while leaving behind goodwill for our brand as a country. Republicans have gotten so high on their own farts that they can't look past the handouts to foreigners messaging to realize most foreign aid is self serving.
