In 2025, I will finish one seasonal per season, and catch a few cinematic anime releases, one per season would be a nice goal.

  • Wolf Children

we clinched it out last year and hell, 2025 is looking even more like a year of anime for me, so in that regard:

  • finish 12 seasonals
  • catch up with the HxH anime
  • watch the following other anime:
    - Paranoia Agent
    - Madoka Magica (series only, movies optional)
    - Black Lagoon
    - Dorohedoro
  • attend 3 cons

I'm gonna watch more romance or rom/com anime this year. At least to a 3:1 ratio with action stuff.

Everything is Sinister

I'm going to watch at least one anime from each season the whole way through.

I'm also going to assemble all the kits I currently have in my Gunpla backlog. Which currently is a Build Divers GM/GM, SD Unicorn Gundam Banshee, Gundam Lfrith, Gundam Calibarn, RX-78F00 Gundam and limited edition EVA-01.

Also I'm going to finish watching the Ghibli movies that are available on Netflix.

Also I'm going to get caught up on the Delicious in Dungeon anime, I never got around to finishing it.

Watch Gundam X
Start watching season 2 of 86 since it will absolutely be announced by the time the year ends
Finish Ya Boy Kongming since I got to like episode 7 or 8 and just haven't gotten around to the rest for some reason

I haven't made a post in one of these threads before but I always make big statements about how I'm totally going to get back into anime and then end up watching like one or two shows. So, I'll keep it simple - this year I will watch at least three anime shows.

Do you need to screen the films in theaters for them to count or does streaming and disk count as well

Patlabor
Arnored Trooper Votoms
RahXephon
Sailor Moon R
Victory Gundam
Welcome to the NHK

This year I'm going to complete one seasonal anime that comes out this year. I haven't actually done that in like a decade and that sucks.

bobbertoriley
Sep 5, 2011

Anime:
- Pick one show each season not on my watchlist, but my friend is watching, and give it a try (this season: catching up on Apothecary Diaries)
- Rewatch Fullmetal Alchemist or Brotherhood (It's been a decade since I've touched either)
- Finish Utena (currently in the Black Rose saga)
- Watch through Satoshi Kon's films for the first time

Manga: Last year I picked up my first manga and caught up on a few running series (Chainsaw Man, Spy X Family, Dandadan, Frieren). This year I'm going to make it a goal to pick a couple of older/classic manga and read through them.
- Berserk (At least through Miura's run)
- Sailor Moon + Sailor V
- Trigun
- Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer
- Still deciding on a third (Leaning Steel Ball Run or Trigun, but open to suggestions!) (e 1/21: decided and added to the list, will probably just read SBR as the volumes come out though)

Video Game
- Complete one route in both Tsukihime and the Fate/Stay remasters

While I'm not adding to the list (yet), someone mentioned the Girls with Guns trilogy, and that sounds like a fun (re)-watch. I remember nothing about Noir or Cazador other than their soundtracks and enjoying my time with them.

Finishing up Code Geass, it was a fun show that gets hilariously over the top in long term plans and betrayals and insane twists.
Very wild ride, and I'm glad I finally put in the time to watch it.

Ergo Proxy won the next roulette spin which I will start tomorrow.

Got distracted by Iria and the temptation to start watching Kaiba again but I managed to watch one episode of Ya Boy Kongming since the year started. Forgot how much I liked the opening and ending songs.

bobbertoriley
Sep 5, 2011

Kongming is a lot of fun. The music really sold the premise for me (except for one song which, by the end, felt a little too overused)

Couple of check-in points. I'll probably save these for quarterly updates after this, unless something comes up that really resonates.
- About 1/3 through Berserk (just past The Eclipse) and been averaging about one of the deluxe volumes a week. I'm sad about Casca's fate and know through hearsay it doesn't get much better by the end. :smith: Puck is surprisingly one of my favorite characters just by adding a little levity to otherwise a very dark series.
- The decision to watch one thing off my friend's watchlist each season already paid off. Initially I was only planning to watch 2 episodes of Apothecary Diaries a week until I caught up at the end of next season, but then I got hooked and binged the first season in 2 weeks. Maomao is a loveable little dork, and I'm surprised how a single episode made me go from absolutely hating Lakan to mixed but sympathetic.
- Officially through the halfway point of Utena, and I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's still a little too episodic for my tastes, and while I appreciate the vibes and the undertones of the various character arcs, the overarcing plot feels like nonsense. Reminded of when I watched RahXephon, where the story only really clicked after the second to last episode, but by then I was too exhausted to care. Still plan to finish it, and hoping my opinion changes by the end. Still have man riding on car that I know about from cultural osmosis, and maybe by then things will look up.

Getting a late start on this but I wasn't sure if I wanted to set any goals for myself. Then I looked at my bookshelves and lamented my back catalog. My Goal is to work through the various box sets that I've accumulated over the years but never got around too. As far as the anime and tokusatsu related series these are my goals.

Watch at least 3 of the following:
  • The Ancient Magus Bride
  • Casshern Sins
  • [C] - The Money and Soul of Possibility
  • Concrete Revolutio
  • Deadman Wonderland
  • Digimon Adventure: Tri
  • Outlaw Star
  • Michiko & Hatchin
  • Mob Psycho 100 S1
  • Outlaw Star
  • Paranoia Agent
  • Tower of God
  • The Tower of Druaga

Watch at least 1 of the following
  • MPD Psycho
  • Ultraman Series 2
  • The Super Robot Red Baron
  • Super Sentai Zyuranger

Play one of the following
  • Higurashi
  • Fate/Stay Night Remastered

To do: Watch Moribito.

Finished Ergo Proxy. It was good and I liked it, but I don't think it was quite to my tastes. I found it a little difficult to follow, and the characters didn't really stand out to me too much beyond Rea-l design.

Still glad I watched it. This had been something I've heard about as an an anime classic for a long time, and it's aesthetic seemed right up my alley.

Next will be Patlabor, which I should clarify I plan to watch the OVA series and movies.

Roth

Thought the Patlabor OVA series and first movie were really good, absolutely loved the second movie. Clancy was so cool.

Starting Victory Gundam. Heard this one's not so great, but I guess we'll see.

Finished Berserk, and I understand its reputation as one of the best. Then tried reading the next couple post-Miura chapters, and it felt like wiki summaries with bad art and nope'd out. Hope it eventually concludes so I can see the cliff notes of where Miura wanted it to go, but the ride was worth not getting an ending.

Put thoughts elsewhere, but also finished Utena and Adolescence.

Goals for next season are Tsukihime, start Loser Ranger to catch up for s2 (it's on my friend's watchlist and not mine, so making that my spring seasonal try-out), and either Sailor Moon or Biscuit Hammer. While it's not on the list, the FMA rewatch is getting punted for a bit so I can start 0079 and Zeta in spare time.

Finished Victory Gundam and definitely not my favorite Gundam series. There's some good ideas but they're kinda just let down in various ways. The Shirke Team being the most glaringly obvious who should be a cool idea but they all just barely get developed and then killed off. Reading that Tomino was trying to just sink the franchise at this point explains a lot of things, but it does have its moments. I'd only recommend it for Gundam completionists really.

Edit to not double post: Baccano was very well all the hype I've heard for it. Glad I finally checked it out. Starting up Sailor Moon R.
