It felt like a telenovela with some songs, but the songs are written by someone who doesn't know how songs in a musical work. And it's not a telenovela it's a racist stereotype of a telenovela.

It's baffling in every way.

What have they even contributed to the film industry anyway?

They gave us a steel drum cover of P.I.M.P. does that count.

Music biopics already are redundant, they're just jukebox musicals that rely heavily on nostalgia. I was happy that A Complete Unknown at least made Dylan seem like an opportunistic rear end in a top hat.

Was he censored? I heard his whole speech on my feed, and then of course he caught enormous poo poo from the Zionist scumbag community for it

They posted every other speech on their social media, but not his. Otherwise I don't know of anything specific.

Watched Den of Thieves this weekend and it was one of the worst films I've seen in a while. Y'know what a good scumbag movie has? Likable scumbags. People who give you a reason to cheer for them. All of these people are vile pieces of poo poo. It was definitely stupid, but not in a fun way.

Better Man is a five-star movie by the standards of music biopics. Unfortunately that is the worst genre in the history of film so it’s mostly just okay.

His life story is just an incredibly cliche VH1: Behind the Music episode and the only reason that Better Man is interesting at all is the monkey.

My question about Mickey 17 -

Does the film touch on the concept of the soul at all? Are all of the Mickeys assumed to be the "same" Mickey or is this all handwaved? Like, does the film consider Mickey 17 the "same person" as Mickey 1 or are they explicitly different people with the same memories?

It doesn't really touch on it but the whole crux of the movie is two Mickeys existing at the same time and they are very clearly very different people.

OK. You should probably just see the movie rather than just summarily dismissing it imo.

Edit: You should see it too MZ.

Yeah there’s a version of A Complete Unknown where Dylan is straight-up the villain which owns but the typical biopic stuff keeps on creeping in around the edges. Norton is excellent too, I watched some Seeger clips afterwards and he really nailed his inflections.

Yeah I would say the movie kind of ends up being "God drat this guy is easily the best songwriter of our or any generation we should worship at his feed. He's such an absolute dickhead though."

I expected it to be more fully hagiographical so I really appreciated that angle.

I really like CATS a lot and have inflicted it on a lot of my friends, but it suffers as a bad movie experience by having waaaay too many slow ballads.

It's made for group watching so you can point out the tennis shoes on some cats or the disappearing/reappearing rings or when Judi Dench just casually stretches her leg over her head.

Both written by Diablo Cody.

Jennifer's Body has pretty affected language, like Juno, so you will probably find it annoying. I think it's fun.

okay strange question.

does anyone know if someone gets seasick or vomits in the movie Greyhound? my kids have been learning alot about world war 2 and saw the captured uboat that's at the museum of science and industry in Chicago, and it seems like a good movie to watch that's in that realm. BUT one of my kids has a phobia for people throwing up and i don't want to trigger it

thanks!

Does the dog die isn’t always 100% correct but it usually is. No vomit.

It tends to be a bit spoilery but it's very thorough, which is really nice if you have a specific phobia or dislike. Unconsenting media does the same but it's specifically about sexual violence.
