Finishing up my David Ayer marathon. Fury is still so loving brutal. I always forget that's one of his, but since someone ITT reminded me I won't, and the dialogue is painfully obviously Ayer as well - there's a specific kind of juvenile vulgarity that seems to be his hallmark.

Line I'll always remember is Michael Peña talking about the Falais Pocket and describing it as "we hosed em up."

I would love to see one of these where someone isn't doing the Angry Youtube Reviewer schtick of having a really great time but trying to come up with increasingly absurd hyperbole to describe regular bad movies for a change of pace. A truly bad movie will make you hate movies and not want to watch them for a while.

I love that weird-rear end vhs of Ghostbusters that’s cropped to 4:3 but it periodically pans back and forth to get whoever’s speaking into frame.

I saw Ghostbusters 2 on TV a lot as a kid so for a long time I thought that awkward panning was how it was supposed to look. I don't recall seeing a lot of other pan and scan tapes or broadcasts though I'm sure I did. It's just really prominent in that movie. A lot of movies on tape were just presented open matte instead of of pan and scan.

Who the hell is watching all these ai fake trailers? And why does YouTube think I want to watch them.

There's a significant amount of Youtube views that come from autoplayed videos and that's one of the major reasons for tailoring the algorithm a specific way.

With the caveat that this is all black box poo poo, a common assumption among youtube producers right now is that the reason youtube's algorithm rewards very short and very long (3 hour +) videos is because these benefit the most from the autoplayer.

If you're trying to grow numbers on youtube (god help your soul) the unwatched devices demographic is a major consideration.

Like you say, it's totally opaque but Cocomelon alone should be proof enough. It's also why you basically have to be in a bespoke partnership with Youtube to make money off anything tagged for kids.

I think a big issue with the CATS theatrical is that people thought for some reason that because it played 40 years on Broadway it wasn't weird as hell. It would be like if there was a 300 million STARLIGHT EXPRESS movie. That, too, would not come off as normal.
