First movie of the year was Nosferatu (2024) which I quite enjoyed, here’s hoping we get some good movies in 2025.

i guess Time is a dimension. So all movies are 3D by default. Thank you for the answer

I dunno it’s a weird question because if you just look at your local showtimes you’ll probably see 3D showings for at least Mufasa if not Moana 2 and Wicked as well. It’s very much still a thing.

I’m looking into getting a projector to replace my aging tv because that’s the only way to still get a 3d home viewing experience (excluding vr) and I still like to watch Pina and Drive Angry 3D in 3D

Why does Mike “convicted rapist” Tyson continually get a pass from the entertainment industry? Darkly funny that Gibsons cameo in Hangover 2 was cancelled for being problematic but they had no problem with Tyson being there

I’m a fan of War of the Worlds and that it has a scene just to prey on the very particular fear of letting your kid drive and ending up in a bad situation lol. Signs is absolutely the superior film in the single dad dealing with an alien invasion and one of his kids has special medical needs genre

Actors already have non-disparagement clauses in their contracts. They don’t need this too to keep actors quiet, so I think you might be barking up the wrong bush on this one.

Non-disparagement clauses should be and are (for the time being) illegal in the US. They are solely used for petty retribution and to cover up illegal activity. Anything that lends legitimacy or attempts to expand the practice, like these Oscars rules, should be called out for what it is

My main external drive just died. It was an old timey harddrive and it survived without issue for over a decade which I'm told is a long life for these things.

I've lost a bunch of old raw footage that's long ago been edited into something concrete, a few Gb of stock footage/graphics/music/sound effects most of which I can just download again.

I was extremely lucky that I had already uploaded the final cut of my latest short to YouTube. I'll need to download that and convert it for when I make the DCP or the Icelandic documentary film festival.
Which is less ideal than exporting from the original project but not a major problem.

Thankfully almost everything Gústi related is stored on two separate external SSD drives.

Condolences. I’m sure I’m not the first to mention this but it bears repeating: offsite backups are cheap and easy these days, if your livelihood depends on computer data it’s practically negligent not to set up something on OneDrive, iCloud, backblaze, mega, or whatever works best for you.
