Iron Lynx and Mercedes had the equivalent of a shotgun wedding for this program, it’s gonna take time to gel.

The Porsches appear to have been hit hard by the BoP hammer, and Akodis looked like a combo of gentler BoP and a year of experience with the cars.

I tapped out about 1/3 of the way through the WEC race (what, it started at 8:00 pm my time) but it was absolutely delivering through then. Need to catch up this coming week.

Stealing drag racing news from coconono but Brittney Force apparently broke 302mph on the 1/8th mile in Gainesville and honestly most of my questions are just different variations of "how"

Put the drivers in a big foam capsule and go back to the full quarter mile. I want to see how fast we can go :getin:

Honestly though this makes me want to try and see nhra when they come through Gateway it sounds like a ton of fun

While I don't like hearing Italian commentary on sports, I think the team used by Eurosport/Discovery here in Italy is a shitload better than what goes on the English web streams, be it rlm or the wec staff.

Gonna need some logic here, because there’s not much to hate about having an F1 grid’s worth of proper prototypes, all but two being factory efforts.

I honestly don’t miss the P2s, they’re good at Le Mans and perfect for ELMS/AsLMS, but Formula Oreca had outlived its use in the WEC.

i don't really consider putting Porsche stickers on a Multimatic a factory effort, but the real issue is that I have zero takeaways from the race. like i have no idea if Ferrari got a 1-2-3 because they built a good car, or if it's just a BOP thing. it's not as bad as DTM/WTCC where you'd straight up see cars go from nowhere to getting a 1-2-3-4 sweep the next week, but there's still very little context to what goes on

also i remember other series that did the "cheap, performance-equalized manufacturer involvement" thing in the past, like DTM, WTCC, World Rally Car-era WRC, and Supertouring, and they all had very similar problems and causes of death

idk i dont want to poo poo on anyone's excitement but i saw the news of Ford making a LMDH and people were like, bringing up Ford v. Ferrari quotes and i'm like, what are you guys talking about. they're going to slap some blue ovals on an Oreca and make the front end vaguely look like a mach-e or something. this is not exactly the GT40

I agree with you, I'm kinda happy for BoP to be everywhere EXCEPT the top class of "Prototypes" and F1. I don't even like F1 and LMPwhatever have spec tyres, that's not prototypes.

But the world has changed and we're now old men yelling at clouds.

True "prototype racing" is essentially dead and we can either complain we don't get to see the purity of 3 Toyotas racing themselves or we can try to suspend disbelief and enjoy what we do have.

i mean i was fine with prototypes being inherently boom-bust, like my first le mans was 2004 and that didn't even have factory teams in it, just semi-works audis destroying everyone

i think this is just me entering my old-man phase because the last two le mans depressed me far more than any of the Toyota ones, which at least had some fun GT action

e) anyway in 2031 le mans will introduce an unlimited zero-emissions class for completely insane hydrogen and full-EV cars to do completely bullshit unsafe lap times, and i will watch until they send another car into the stands and ban racing forever

announcers gotta be semi-pro stand up comedians for them to really work well. Especially for long events. Otherwise you're best off with using generative AI to read off all the sponsor names and ad copy.

Yeah the IMSA one is a simulcast with both radio and often, the track so it's a different thing.

Crofty should try shutting up though. I'd suggest between the start of the warmup lap and the heat death of the sun.
