I like the way he seems to be pretty transparent on his podcast and he does seem to challenge NASCAR publicly when he disagrees with something which I think the sport needs from its veteran drivers, or prominent voices in the sport.

I choose to believe he could be more middle-ground if there was any reward for a "good points day" these days. If you can get one win, top 10 finishes mean nothing in the regular season. Go for broke or wreck on lap four trying.
