Barely saw his first grandchild and the thought of how much she, her brother and my other nephew are missing out on really hurts. I love my parents but they are in their 70s and I'm in my 30s, my time is more valuable to the world now since they are retired and I'm working full time and even if that wasn't true... I'll consider myself drat lucky if I live to my 70s so I feel like 20 more years to whatever age they'll be when they pass is overkill, no pun intended.

My parents are old enough and healthy enough that they probably wouldn't want another 20 years. My mum was a nurse and always says she doesn't want to get too old because it seems like it sucks.

I came home from a friends house tonight, she just recently lost her father and lost her mother a few years before that. She would 100% say yes to this question. As for me, I've noticed my own parents health deteriorate for years now. Arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, quadruple bypass, prostate removal, hysterectomy and my mom had that thing done where they stop her heart and restart it to try and fix irregular beats. My dad has both his knees replaced with titanium. Neither of them are 70 yet but very close. I don't think I'd be cruel enough to put them through 20 more years of that.

If they had a reasonable quality of life, probably yes. I know people hate boomers. My parents were both born in 41 so they are Silents. My mom died about 6 years ago, my dad is still kicking at 83 or so. They have, or had some opinions, that might be considered slightly "old fashioned" though they are or were, in the case of my mom, cool with the existence of minorities, LGBTQ+ people and similar issues like that (also both think trumpo is a oval office). They also did a gang of poo poo for their kids to try and help them succeed in life. So yeah, I don't hate my parents, if I could get another 20 years with them, with a good quality of life, not being all bed ridden and poo poo then hell yeah.
