I would let most of my school memories go for free, if it would stop them from popping into my head at random times and making me sad and/or furious.

The outcome of the next couple years will determine if my remaining days are cool as hell

My happiness is trending upward in general even if I do make a few missteps here and there

lalaland posted:Well im nearing 40 and my body starts breaking down in strange and exotic ways so its very likely the future isnt going to be as good and happy as the past I know. I twisted my ankle about 6 weeks ago and it still hasn't fully healed. When it happened in my 20's it only took a couple of weeks for me to walk normally again. I think I gave myself tennis elbow from using a powerwasher for a week, that was three months ago and sometimes my elbow is still sore.

I don't think so. I spent alot of my life dealing with mental illness and being poor and after lucking into a good career and grinding at various things for the past 5 or so years I'm in a pretty good place I have few memories I can look back on that feel like "the good old days" but given my currently contented state it makes me wonder if I'm finally in them

Yes and no. It’s a different kind of happy now. I used to be pretty carefree about life, no living expenses or responsibilities besides school. That’s gone now. I have responsibilities and a family to care for. I will never again achieve that type of happiness again. I have a different type of happiness now, though. It’s not that carefree happiness but it’s more of a satisfaction that life is how I want it to be. It’s not the same but it’s a happiness that I am learning to enjoy.
