 I am trying to get my own little family to see our extended family in Mayo this July and my wife needs a loving visa and my friend says me and the kids might need one as well cuz EU is changing rules about Americans because we are a pariah state now. Awesome. I'm not crazy about St. Patrick's day cuz by all accounts the man was Italian and it feels like another dollar-store, made in china, american holiday here. Taking the kids to a parade though so we can flip off the pigs.

There’s an Irish bar in Trenton with a bunch of pro-IRA posters and pictures of Gerry Adams and Brendan Hughes and poo poo in it and they have Irish music a lot. It owns and I wanna go but no way I’ll make it this year.

I have two corned beef briskets defrosting that I bought after St Patrick’s Day last year for 99 cents a pound. The brisket this year is fifteen loving dollars a pound. I will dine mightily and cheaply on my salted slurry.

I like .99 better. Meanwhile, I had my first restaurant corned beef and cabbage at the famous Irish dining establishment Beef O’ Brady’s today and paid 15 bucks for an a’ight meal. No carrots though, which was odd.

Someone on these forums mentioned to me once that the northern/southern Irish catholics are very different. edit: north/south united states, to be clear Also, I'm just north of you and they dyed the harbor here green for the first time. I'm not a fan of that but people were excited.

Hell yeah, good food area folks rise up (that includes the Kewpee in Racine) It is kinda fun to see happen if you haven't seen it before. I really stopped going to the event when I quit drinking because- and I'm going to be nakedly honest- I don't drink to have one or two, I drink to get wasted with friends. Hangovers after 45 are a unique and special type of cruelty.
