Magician's Nephew is the best narnia book (although it shouldn't be the first one anyone reads) because

- it's got the most science-fiction feel out of all of them
- it's not particularly Jesusy
- there's limited scope for Lewis's racism and sexism to reveal itself

Magician's Nephew > Dawn Treader > Horse and His Boy > Prince Caspian (can't really remember this one tbh) = The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe > The Silver Chair (has good bits but very uneven) > The Last Battle (super high Jesus levels)
