Get up you son of a bitch! 'Cause Mickey loves you!

Random holy poo poo how did I not know this before...

Mark shepherd, who plays Canton Delaware III, is actually the son of W Morgan Shepherd, who plays the older Canton Delaware III

I knew who both of these actors were, but I never knew they were related until today. I just thought the casting was really good 😂

Between the two of them they've covered almost every major Sci-Fi series I can think of, drat

Edit
And of course I don't realize this is a new thread and I'm posting this on the first page, drat I don't know if it's worth that 😂

I suppose before it's drowned out by the new series I should say I've listened to the first dozen or so stories of the Torchwood monthly range. They're... pretty good.

A fairly big stumbling block for me is that I just have zero interest in most of the characters

I'm going to keep listening to these, though I'm going to be a little more selective

100% focus on the Standalone stories, I find they're the best and get the most experimental, allowing authors the most freedom. Fun!

Torchwood One is a blast, if you want to delve into the more gritty and Cutthroat Torchwood.
Tommy pierce is my spirit animal.

Really cool you're giving these a go. They're really loving good.
in a fairly rough place due to actor unavailability.

One's great. Soho's great. They're all great.

Tommy loving rules too.

Oh, hell yes, I forgot about Soho. Those have been immediately listens for me, thothe last set was a bit underwhelming. Though admittedly at the time I may not have been giving it full attention. Will have to relisten to Ascension at some point, James Goss usually doesn't bounce off me

Norton fullgate is one of my favorite creations from Big finish, that would admittedly the character is suffering from overexposure and works better as a secondary.

Anyway, nice and gory, fun and thoughtful. Good stuff. Four half a babies out of five.

I see what you did there.

Also, seconded. Great fun and I really love these more victorian/edwardian Torchwood stories, as its my favorite period for historical fiction.

Hell, I shouldn't be surprised that I missed Andrew Garfield being in a Doctor Who episode, because I didn't know who he was at the time and that's an episode I've probably never rewatched.

Oh God I'm going to have to watch one of those "20 actors you didn't know were in Doctor Who" aren't i

Sucks that the show is ending again, but as always Big Finish will [hopefully]carry on the torch until we get a return. I'm of the opinion it'll never truly die.

The episode definitely suffered from getting edited down, the Al stuff in particular was rushed but as always RTD had the vibes on lock.

Once again, enjoyed it and was fun but falls apart when you start to pick it apart. Same as I felt about the rest of RTD2.0.

Edit idk who is in charge of picking the companions (obviously rtd and Gardner prob) but they are nailing it this go around when it comes to "oh my god they're adorable" for me

I'd love to watch any Doctor, in their prime, just be inserted into the episode for another Doctor. Patrick Troughton doing Matt Smith episodes. Peter Capaldi doing Peter Davison episodes. Ncuti Gatwa doing David Tennant's full run. Tom Baker just doing every single episode of Doctor Who. Obviously there's no way to do it without getting into Hotel Reverie territory, but it's fun to imagine.

BF's Main Range did an arc, 197-200 that follows this trope. I enjoyed it although I wish they'd done actual stories (and not had the big bad be the monk, that's not really his thing...but his pathos is good albeit confusing as hell for the Doctors since he is mad at 8 .

200 is my favorite by far but that might just be down to enjoying the characters more.

They've done Past Doctors/Future Monsters and the above....I am honestly surprised they haven't re-done an actual story arc.

Wellington Paranormal was a great low budget show. Let TVNZ have Doctor Who for a while.

I would actually be okay with a low budget series following a lovely B team of unit operatives, done in the style. Do the "we just showed up last minute and JUST MISSED some huge Doctor event periodically as an ongoing joke as to why we never see much action.

Also, wondering if I have some emotions that need to be processed or maybe my estrogen is just a little high(I'm on trt) becauseI cried during the fourth wall break with the fans and Belinda realizing they wouldn't exist anymore

This was a banger and reading the theories about the meta plot ideas re Cancelation , I'm in. I hope that's the! Unlikely) end goal

Enjoyed both the last two. Didn't get to comment on the midnight sequel but the moment it hit me I was like oh s***. I remembered hearing it was coming but I totally forgot.

My takeaway was it wasn't the same monster but maybe they all are just assholes on this planet. Who knows. Game playing could into the pantheon thing I guess

as for lucky day.. I said early on oh man I hope they don't hurt Ruby emotionally, I've taken her on like a daughter in my mind. and what do you know

also, anyone wonder if the end addition with the doctor showing up and talking directly to Trump/altright or I mean Conrad was good, but not very subtle in the fact that it was obviously meant to be talking at the real world right now... Might have been a late addition?

Edit
it only hit me later that of course the fact Conrad gets released and was the person primarily saying he rejected the doctor's reality.. RTD can't resist himself from making the obvious tie to the finale obvious

Edit voice to text, fixed a lot of them but I'm sure I missed some dumb stuff

Didn't mind the Kate scenes either because I've always read Kate that way so I wasn't fully surprised (well, for as long as she's had a personality anyway, she kinda feels like she started as a way to insert the Brigadier after the actor's death).

I honestly assumed she was going to let the creature rip him apart on live TV, that's how I feel Kate is deep down inside.

Lol at two things:

1) I wasn't the only one to go "Oh no, Autons..." in the dept store

and then

2) One thing that probably is me giving too much credit to the character motivation for Conrad...I've realized that here in America, MAGA folks have no cognitive dissonance. They can believe two totally incompatible things at once. So, if Conrad was meant to be doing this (and its how I read it...I'm living in red state America 2025 so I can't help it), it was dead on.

That said I am also tired of seeing chuds in media due to the above mentioned living situation.

Has there ever been a spinoff novel or audio or something focusing on a non-UK branch of UNIT?

Come to think of it, they should have written out Liz Shaw by having her transferred to Australia or something instead of going back to academia. It would leave room for her to return occasionally if Caroline John was willing while still giving a convenient reason for her absence if necessary. (“Could we get Liz to help with this?” “No, she’s busy dealing with the Great Intelligence’s army of drop bears.”)

Not that I am aware of, though there is a french guy working at UK unit in the Brigadier bomberra series(sp).

Big finish has started to dip its toe into Edwardian Torchwood as well which I definitely appreciate, and I'd love to hear BF take a stab at national unit branches, but I also am aware that would lead to inevitably terrible big finish accents.

I understand that it's an easy shorthand to make a character have a Southern drawl to show they're American but I promise we don't all sound that stupid, so I assume all of their accents follow a similar trend.(aka how much effort is the VA gonna give? Not enough $$ to care usually imo, I do not fault THEM this)
