Wow a rookie position player absolutely couldn't hit major league pitching? An unforseen situation, good thing Jed stocked up on veteran utility guys who also can't hit major league pitching.

Also gently caress Shaw going down, he wasn't good but what's...

He used to have a great slider that made his two fastballs really work but he just kept getting hurt.

The Dads closer Estrada is a former Cubs top prospect they unceremoniously dumped off their roster for nothing because he struggled for ~10 innings in 2023 and he immediately went on to figure it out and become one of the most dominant relievers in the game with tippy top shelf stuff.

I cannot stress enough how loving worthless our FO is, lmao.

Maybe this is true of other teams that I don’t religiously follow, but I feel like the Cubs consistently draft really well and then somehow give up on guys too early or blow their options and then the guys go on to be good with other teams. The transition to the majors seems to be getting harder for everyone, but man, the Cubs fumble that step way too often.

EDIT: I hope Matt Mervis hits 35 dingers this year

I do wish Max Fried well though. He was very good for the Braves, and good on him for getting paid because the Braves weren't going to do it.

Astros pitching is still really good, but the hitting is really bad. Good recipe for a lot of ugly games.

Would be nice to have the AL hits leader and NL #2 on our team, but that's just pure fantasy.
