The AL East is +7 in wins vs the NL.

The AL as a whole is -12. AL BEAST

I'm just glad I've got about another month of fondly smiling a the Angel's record before their pitching absolutely implodes.

While I more or less jumped ship with Ohtani and moved my fandom to the Dodgers, my father I live with is a lifelong hardcore Dodgers fan. It wasn't hard.

But if I've got an AL team to root for? It's still going to be the hapless Angels.

Kris Bryant diagnosed with a degenerative disc condition :(

https://sports.yahoo.com/article/former-chicago-cubs-mvp-kris-012240193.html

quote:

The Rockies placed Bryant, the 2016 NL MVP, on the injured list Monday with lumbar degenerative disc disease. According to MLB.com, the Rockies expect Bryant to return at the end of his IL stint.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, degenerative disc disease — which the clinic notes is not actually a disease but a condition — causes the spinal discs to wear down. It is unclear if the condition is related to the various back injuries that limited Bryant to -1.1 bWAR and 159 games from 2022-24.

I'm glad he got paid but man what a bummer, I hope he can live a comfortable life after baseball.

I mean, we all have degenerative disk disease. It just means "your back and neck get worse as you age"

There's a number of things that are called "disease" that are used differently than the common use, kind of like "theory" means different things to a scientist and a layman.

Seems to be particularly bad for Bryant though as he's had on and off back issues for awhile now.

Sure, it can be better or worse for people. It's just fresh in my mind because my mother who has spent her whole life terrified of becoming a bent over crooked old lady was bereft after she got diagnosed with DDD and I had to tell her to chill, everyone her age has it.

Another spring commute
Bryant has at most 1/5th of the personality required to be a successful broadcaster, which is to say he'd still probably be better than Sutcliffe by sheer virtue of being deadass boring instead of insufferable.

It's genuinely baffling.

I don't understand how someone who grades out so loving well on all his pitches, who throws a ton of plus-pitch secondaries, can just implode so badly at the drop of a hat.

It's like he somehow caught the most bizarre, undefinable case of the yips to ever exist.

I hate to say it, but I think it would be good for his career to get a change of scenery. I think Knack and Wrobleski have a lot more upside at this point, as they are young and showing flashes of being good.

I heard there's a rule where relievers have to face a certain minimum number of batters. Seems fine but got me thinking, could the pitcher just start mouthing off at the home plate ump to get tossed in order to trigger a bullpen change that way? Seems like a creative and fun option.

Tayter Swift

Pillbug
Three batter minimum and that would certainly lead to fine and/or suspension of the pitcher and/or manager.
