The explanation for the bats given on the Yankee broadcast was that they noticed a trend that Volpe always hits the ball on the label so they tried making that part of bat denser and he liked it and blah blah. The announcers basically just said it probably means more jam shots/broken bats but maybe it gets batters to wait a little longer on the pitch? Then some story about how Mattingly used to be able to do that “but maybe that’s why his back always hurt.”

I have no idea.

It doesn’t matter. Any conspiracy hate they say is true.

I look forward to the day the Astros fans fully move to “it was judge banging cans all along.”

I love that there’s a “controversy” about banning certain bats because one teams pitching sucked balls for one series and they didn’t like it.

Yeah, I don't get it... if the bats work, just start using them? (also it wasn't the bats)

It’s nonsense. The bats existed before the Yankees. Half the home runs weren’t with them. Judge didn’t use one. The Brewers just got rocked. But they cried about it and it became an online meme so now it’s a story. So dumb.

It’s at least been a narrative on sports radio and espn. Most of the response has been “no, it’s legal, this is dumb” but a Brewers pitcher called it bush league and unfair so it’s probably gonna be a thing if the Yanks stay hot.

Of course the most likely scenario is the Yankees dont hit 15 home runs against their next couple of opponents and the Brewers just sucked.

It’s just a thing because the Yankees had a home run derby so morons assumed they were all using a secret illegal bat.

I forgot to add this but I do also want to say that Giancarlo Stanton trying to blame the bat for getting hurt is really loving funny

Stanton didn’t do that. All he said was that his elbow problems might have come from batting adjustments he made. Then Jason Dominguez said he used the torpedo bats last year. Then unnamed people allegedly speculated about the reason for Stanton’s problems. And then morons made an assumption.

Mets broadcast last night said Lindor was using variations on the torpedo bat at certain times last year. Seems like it's only really getting notice because the Yankees are publicity hounds and doing PR around this.

All they did was mention why some peoples bats are different during the first broadcast of the season. It’s only a thing because the Yankees are doing it so the usual suspects are making a fuss.

Meanwhile I look at the scoreboard and like half the games are 9-3. So maybe league pitching just sucks.

I guess I could understand how someone who has never been to New York or only there in passing might wonder why Yankee Stadium and Citifield aren’t closer because they have no concept of the Bronx or Queens. But Yankee Stadium is at the head of Manhattan Island, right across the river from Jersey, has multiple major roadways that lead to it, a ton of public transportation, and walking distance from every direction to any kind of bar or restaurant or whatever you want. There’s like a dozen different ways you can get to the Stadium for a game. Citifield is way the gently caress out an hour deep into the cities outer boroughs in the middle of nowhere. They don’t compare.

Maybe it's because there's so many guys, maybe it's because it's very low contact so there's less opportunity for injury, but baseball players seem to get injured in stupid ways more than other sports.

I think it’s just because there’s so many guys and because baseball is a daily sport. NBA players get food poisoning and slip in the shower too. But they play a more contact sport so you don’t have to explain why they have an ankle sprain and they might miss one game or none when sick depending on the schedule. So it’s just perception and the nature of baseball.

How could someone make three outs in an inning? Wouldn’t their team have to bat around twice and he’s the only one who records an out?

I think you’d have to retire if that happened.

I’d probably say Vlad’s contract was too much if someone else signed him. He doesn’t seem to be in the Judge/Soto/Ohtani tier. But this is a case where he’s probably worth more to Toronto than someone else and yeah they probably could have signed him for less a year or two ago or whatever but whatever. They have the money, he matters to the team, it had to be done.

I feel pretty good about the Yankee bullpen. Their main problem is overwork because of the rotation. And I guess Devil Williams having hiccups but he’s a reliever. Of course he sorta sucks every 3 or 4 games.
