ESPN is such trash and I'm glad they're not going to carry baseball next year. The laziest godamn interview question everyone asks Dodgers players is "how good is Ohtani??" and that's like all they asked during the game last night, even when interviewing dudes who just went yard

The only real rule around wood bats is that it has to be a single contiguous piece of wood (no cork, no composite materials), maybe also some limits on the drop but I'm not sure about that.

I think MLB players should be allowed to go up to the plate with any batting implement of their choice. Greataxes, electric guitars, large metal poles. It would add some color to the game.
this but if they use anything other than a regulation wood bat they must make the implement themselves

Dodgers go 162-0 while the Padres go 161-0, missing one game to a rain out and never making it up because they already lost the tiebreaker to LA.

Yeah that’s cheap as gently caress, Tatis had a similar number of MLB games when they extended him for $340M

bawfuls
Oct 28, 2009

So that's 2 pre-arb years, 3 arb years, and 4 free agent years

For a guy that just put up 4.5 WAR in his age 21 season, $135M feels low

That's less than the Padres gave a 28 year old Eric Hosmer 8 years ago, and Merrill has already surpassed Hosmer's WAR total as a Padre

He really wants to be in SD and said he would take a pay cut to stay within the team's budget when it came to re-signing (much to his agent's chagrin I assume) so that might play into it a little.
It's not quite Albies or Acuña levels of bargain but it is closer to that than fair value. Somewhat surprised that even with his position well known, his agent couldn't get a bit more.
