How much of Tucker’s projected 4.5 fWAR will he put up after the Cubs trade him at the deadline? I’ll go with 3.5. lol I think they’ve already shifted his projections down like half a point after the first four games. Carson Kelly seems cool. He actually has a little charisma and is interesting in the postgame interviews.

And another for Wells. At least he’s only giving up solo shots! ![]()

Workman seems cool. Shame that Shaw’s already a bust.

I don’t think putting guys coming back from TJ into the bullpen would do much. Yes, it would limit their workload but they’d also probably be pressing more. And it’s not like guys in the pen aren’t throwing hard as hell.

STAC Goat posted:All they did was mention why some peoples bats are different during the first broadcast of the season. It’s only a thing because the Yankees are doing it so the usual suspects are making a fuss. True. Also, it’s “a thing” because we’re a week into the season so talking heads need something to latch onto. And they did hit 9 HRs in a game, tied for second-most all-time, I believe I read.

Probably a bit contrarian, but they’ve got like a million nods to Clemente at PNC including a huge statue and a bridge. Some small placard in the outfield doesn’t phase me one bit.

And…here comes the collapse. We got a whole two weeks of feeling good, but the Brewers seem to be showing a bit more cohesion and I’m afraid it’s over for the Chicago Cubs baseball team.

I don’t think there are hard and fast rules. I’ve seen close games get called. I think the managers discuss it, probably front offices get involved, as well. How close the game is and how easy it would be to make it up later are strong considerations, but I think it’s usually worked out by the teams.

Sydin posted:The Dads closer Estrada is a former Cubs top prospect they unceremoniously dumped off their roster for nothing because he struggled for ~10 innings in 2023 and he immediately went on to figure it out and become one of the most dominant relievers in the game with tippy top shelf stuff. Maybe this is true of other teams that I don’t religiously follow, but I feel like the Cubs consistently draft really well and then somehow give up on guys too early or blow their options and then the guys go on to be good with other teams. The transition to the majors seems to be getting harder for everyone, but man, the Cubs fumble that step way too often. Sorry to interrupt with Cubsposting, but the lineup for today’s game was just released. Carson Kelly batting cleanup, lovely Dansby dropped to 8 and Busch batting against a lefty. Craig Counsell appears to have been replaced with a podperson.
