It feels like it could use an update. I was never on the forums before a couple years ago but I used to read the front page when I was a teenager years ago. I loved the photoshop phridays especially.

Not much of the front page aged well and there are multiple photoshop threads in GBS right now.

You should just make a thread where each post is a new frontpage content

or host ur own frontpage content on geocities or something

like if theres enough people making frontpage content it will create pressure for it to end up on the actual front page

So safe to say that it's coming soon now? It's probably gonna be really awesome with that much time put into it.

i just happened upon This Generation Sucks, and I am substantially certain we don't need any more writing like this on the internet:

quote:

Despite their slacker stereotype, many members of Generation X have grown up to be useful and productive members of society. That tends to happen. A generation starts out being annoying and useless, then eventually steps up to the responsibility of keeping the nation running. If history is any indicator, we should not waste time worrying about the current generation, as they should manage to pull themselves out of this fog of utter IQ deprivation and get to work. Nonetheless, I am worried. I'm very worried. Sure, they might grow out of it. I'd love to see these kids thirty years from now when they look back on the way they used to write and laugh about how moronic they were, except that I don't intend to let any of them live that long. But even if they did survive, there is something in me that doubts that they would really turn themselves around. There are certain inventions that irrevocably change human behavior. The first generation to grow up with the telephone didn't stop using the telephone. The first generation to grow up vegging out in front of televisions has largely not yet learned to stop vegging out in front of televisions. The first generation to grow up with the internet might stop posting infantile bullshit with the grammatical skills of pastry products, but then again, they might not. When this generation of wiggers, sluts, and wannabes grows up and takes over, we might well have a President who, in order to understand what it says, has to read the State of the Union address off a teleprompter that looks like this:

Mai f3loOoOoOoOoOo uhm3ricnz:

3vriithiing z kewl!!!111!!!1 Xpt 4 diz t3rrizt gai. Hii suxorzzzzZZZZZzzzz!!!!!!111!!!!@1

K Gawd bl3zz uhm3ricuh.

Actually, come to think of it, that's not a whole lot worse than what we have now.

Joseph Fink / maxnmoana went onto doing Welcome to Night Vale podcast, which during the 2010s was one of the most popular mainstream podcasts of that sort, though it's petered out and fallen by the way side in recent years.

Zack Parsons is doing bluesky superstar work

Jon Hendren did those TV appearances and ate the eggs and has been coasting on albumin ever since

Josh works as a fairly successful guy but nothing to write home guy at Electronic Arts but nothing to write home about

David is some self-employed media comms guy, probably coasting on web 1.0 wealth

g0m is an extremely successful Venture Capitalist for a firm in Silicon Valley that you've heard of

Richard Kyanka is a master at laydown comedy doing 38 specials for netflix

overall a mixed bag

There was a period in the first year it came out that it was I think either the first or second most downloaded podcast on the charts at the time, which is crazy to think about for Night Vale.

I stopped listening in I think 2016, it was a combination of them running out of ideas even then and getting stuck in doing yet another season-long Trump Allegory and just lost all interest. I’m kind of shocked it’s still going, though glancing at their feed it seems like they’re alternating episodes with nostalgia TV talk.

It was wild how big that show was, I remember tumblr being absolutely fanatical over it.

I did a lot of driving for work one year (like 10,000km/month) and listened to every Welcome to Night Vale episode that was out then, about 80-90 episodes. Was a great time. Then the job ended, I stopped driving around, and never listened to it again.

It's largely cooked and done and they've moved onto being more of a big podcast media-conglomerate. But yeah most everyone has fallen off it because it just kinda got too bored and overly-explaining itself and creating cinematic multiiverse-stuff; all the mystique and intrigue and novelty has long gone and kinda just going through the motions. Very much a product of its time, and being in the right place and time.

but yeah I think he had the most successful goon project of all time? I can't think of a more mainstream and successful goonproject than that. Earwicker (Disparition) also does (did?) the music for the show and he's a really nice guy and very talented.
