Which was the better series? They are some years apart. I watched Duck Tales when I was little and TaleSpin when I was in high school. We didn't have access to Disney when I was a kid, we had to rent BetaMax or VHS for Duck Tales. TaleSpin I watched on Disney channel on TV when we had cable.

Duck Tales has a lot more to build on.

Talespin is pretty good but it doesn't and can't have the sheer scope of DuckTales

Talespin is based on the works of Rudyard Kipling lol, how does that happen

Did these air back to back at some point? I remember thinking they were the same show until around middleschool. I also probably only caught them less than a dozen times prior to middleschool.

I liked them both although never understood what era TaleSpin was supposed to be set in. I guess late 1930s Singapore? Was fun to rewatch opening credits & bad guys are straight up firing machine guns at our heroes.

I really disliked Disney as a child for some reason. The cartoons always seemed painfully inoffensive somehow. I wouldn’t have used those words as a kid, I probably would have just called them “boring”. Both get a double thumbs down!

The only thing I remember from TaleSpin was that kid who would tether a glider to a plane and then ride it, and I guess kid-me thought that was the coolest poo poo ever because every time I was in a car I'd stare out the window and imagine other cartoon characters riding on a glider attached to the car.

I also had no concept of spin-offs or alternate universes though so I was confused how Baloo being a pilot fit into the Jungle Book movie

I'm utterly baffled by their popularity. There's just nothing interesting about them. Every week Bugs and Daffy were shooting each other's heads off, it was hilarious. Mickey and Minnie... exist?

Donald Duck was good because he would fly into irrational and unpredictable fits of rage and it reminded us of our dads.

What's really crazy is that Duck Tales, Tale Spin, C&D Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck all had loving insanely good theme songs.

Duck Tales is to Talespin as Star Trek TNG is to Star Trek DS9

This for me too. Although Darkwing Duck ruled. But I'm a fan of superhero parody in general. Duck Tales is ok, but something about Talespin I remember was slightly unsettling.
