I moved out of rural Wisconsin in 2006 with the goal of ending up in New York. Job availability and expenses landed me in Philadelphia, instead. I figured that could serve as my temporary base until I could finally scoot up the road into NYC. Never happened. Philly ended up being my home and I only ended up visiting NY a dozen times instead. I still love that place. Meanwhile, I know multiple people who live in Texas and it sounds like nightmare fuel.

Malcolm X said he preferred the southern white man because he knew what he was going to get with them. They were open with their hatred. The northern white man was much less open and would frequently pretend to be his friend if it would benefit them.

What an odd question. “Texas” is vague as poo poo and “New York” probably just means NYC proper. I don’t want to live in either, OP.

Hi, person who grew up in Texas here. Texas is awful. Texas is like an abusive person that has some good qualities, and then there's those kind of people that are like well, sure he's abusive and has a drug problem and he cheats on his wife and he's racist and he drives drunk but he's just got such panache Texas will be vastly improved when the drug cartels begin to take it over from the south

What always amuses me is there is a ton of "country" in New York. Like, go check out a map of northeast New York state, up by the Vermont border. It's as country as it gets. So there are also a ton of rednecks (country and redneck go hand and hand). Thus, there are a ton of New York rednecks who all get lumped into the "NYC?!!!" bucket, and I bet they hate it.

I went to Abilene in 2012 to help my aunt move back to SC. It was hot as hell and everything was a mixture of red and brown bleakness. It was like a lovely Mars colony, I guess I see what Elon likes about it lol

To which I answer, you ever lived inside your grill while you're cooking food?

The sun was up less than an hour and the shadow of the ridge and the datilla and the rocks fell far out across the floodplain below him. Somewhere out there was the shadow of Moss himself. He lowered the binoculars and sat studying the land. Far to the south the raw mountains of Mexico. The breaks of the river. To the west the baked terracotta terrain of the running borderlands. He spat dryly and wiped his mouth on the shoulder of his cotton workshirt.

I mean I already live in Texas, but sure I'd move anywhere for a job if that change results in a net positive impact on quality of life.
