  Sharks are a group of mostly-saltwater cartilaginous fishes related to skates and rays. An ancient animal, sharks existed in recognizable form over two hundred million years ago and have remained largely similar ever since. Sharks have many fascinating adaptations. As cartilaginous fishes, they have a skeleton composed entirely of flexible cartilage, rather than bone. Their scales are composed of tiny tooth-like structures known as denticles, which protect them from parasites and facilitate faster movement through the water. And sharks possess a rare electroreceptive sense, which allows them to perceive the bioelectric fields produced by living things. This aids them in the locating of prey. Although sharks only very rarely attack humans, their status as oceanic apex predators, misapprehensions about their aggressiveness, and their expressionless, toothy appearance has led them to be perceived as malicious and highly dangerous. This has been terrible for sharks; quite independent of sharks being killed as a side-effect of commercial fishing, pollution, or habitat destruction, humans often go out of their way to deliberately kill sharks that have done nothing to harm them. Many shark species are today threatened or endangered. So, although some of the cool sharks in this mafia game may be scum-aligned, remember that the real villain, as always, is Man.  Welcome to Shark Mafia, a high-powered mafia game for 18 players. This mafia game is about sharks. BASIC GAME INFO: The game will use majority elimination. Days will be 48 hours, with 24 hour nights. Although every player in this game will have some kind of non-vanilla role, there are no alignment changes, jesters, hidden components to given roles, or other sorts of excessively-mean mod nonsense present. This is a game, part of the game is having people react, but if you think you’re reacting badly, walk away, calm down, come back later. 2. For the lurker mechanic for this game, if you do not post 10 times per game day, you will receive a warning. If it happens a second time, you will be modkilled. Exceptions can be made if deemed necessary. Remember: Posting IS Praxis. He who does not post, neither shall he eat. 3. Don't edit your posts. 4. Don't talk after you're dead. If you are directly affected by a Day Action, do not post under any circumstances until I post the result of the Action. Everyone else is good to keep going. NOTE ABOUT RESULT LANGUAGE: 1. A result that successfully targets will yield the result. "Your action was successful." 2. A result that does not successfully target will yield the result. "Your action fails." 3. If a player name is ever mentioned as part of a result other than those that require it, this is a mod error. 4. A "successful" target is defined as an ability resolving on someone. This does not have to be the intended target, so a redirected result will yield the same language as a result that has not been redirected.
