There’s a dude in Miami who keeps getting busted and refuses to stop, so they’ve arrested him and want a few million off him. https://rbr.com/a-unique-fm-pirate-ends-up-in-miamis-most-infamous-jail/ I saw a bust of a station on AM in Philly I think it was this morning. These days I hear you’re likely to get busted if you do one of two things: 1. Broadcast over someone’s legitimate feed, and they find out because someone contacts them and they in turn contact the FCC. This might be because you’re dumb and broadcasting on a used channel, or because your gear is kinda lovely and kicking out spurs on other frequencies. 2. You get found out by a dweeb who’s actively scanning for stuff and reporting things without licenses. I have a crappy Chinese transmitter in my house, I can pick it up around a block or so radius. I have like zero choice where to transmit at because the FM band is still stupid congested here, and there’s a station every .4 on the dial without fail. All I do is broadcast my collection of stuff like Howard Stern, Loveline, Coast to Coast etc in chronological order because I think that’s kinda fun.
