I haven’t seen much pop culture reference. It may be the algorithm, but no videos on my feed show steam punk. No video games. No mention on social networks.

I was never really into it, but I do kind of miss the dorky weirdness of it and I still would have welcomed its persistence. Was it replaced by something? Like, what happened?

I was at the renfaire this weekend and I saw about an equal number of steam punk costumes and Jedi running around. (about 6 of each) I saw a dozen plague doctors which must have been miserable in that heat. I saw no starfleet officers. Startrek is more dead than steam punk from what I saw.

They're selling two different varieties of steampunk top hat at the drugstore near me. It's not too late.

You need a good jacket with lots of straps too, preferably one that can double as a pirate captain jacket so you get more use of your costume budget.

MAN I hope so. Imagine fantasizing about living on the upper crusts of a Victorian society that's too stupid to ever discover electricity or internal combustion engines.

"Egad, we must get to the Royal mines in a fortnight! Quick, take Professor Fizzlechaps's latest world-changing invention, the auto-roller! It goes 4 mph and requires a refill of water every two kilometers. Also remember to change your mask filter every hour otherwise you'll die of blacklung"

"Can't we just take a horse?"

"THAT'S NOT SCIENCE!"

Are you thinking of a demon that fuels a boiler for a train by giving birth? It was not the plot twist I expected that's for sure.

Good news! At first I thought i was going insane but I finally found it

quote:

Angevine is in her thirties, having been on Armada for over ten years since her ship was captured. Below her thighs, Angevine's legs have been replaced by a bulky, wood-fired steam engine that drives a pair of caterpillar treads.

I will not shut up about the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I talk about them all the time and work them into every conversation I have. I built a shrine in my room for the yellow one who died because sadly no one noticed because she died around 9/11. Wanna see it?

It's been a thing since well before big bang theory referenced it.

Basic costume is easy, shirt that closes with leather straps, maybe a home spun cotton undershirt (it will help a lot in the heat!) and a bycocket hat.
