Everclear, California King posted:All these Californians coming up here and changing everything. They're just a bunch of carpetbaggers and I wish they'd all just go. You probably know the stereotypes. Bad at driving in the rain. Hippies and liberals. "The land of fruit and nuts." I've will have lived in California for 10 years in December. I've gotten used to the lovely driving, hot summers and rare rain (it's southern California). I can't decide if I'm meant to be a Californian for the rest of my life. Sometimes I think about moving back to the South, possibly Asheville area but it's such a big move and I've gotten a little spoiled with the lack of bugs, hurricanes and other severe weather. It'll flood here but so far nothing too crazy. I'm not in an area that gets fires. I've heard of people moving out of California to the disdain of the people in their new locale. I don't think Californians have the best rep. Prove me wrong! (Or don't)

I've never heard the driving in the rain thing before. You'd be completely out of your mind to move to the southern USA at this juncture in history.

We get the Orange County Californians who move here for less taxes and more “freedom”’, so like the upstate New Yorkers they just keep making our state redder and more lovely.

True story I used to fly a lot and the worst flights as far as passenger behaviour were always into LAX by a long shot: - People refusing to check carryons - An incredible amount of "service animals" who were clearly just people's pets - Loudly talking on cellphones after the plane has been boarded forcing staff to make them end the call - Having loud convos about what I can only describe as "LA poo poo". People talking just loud enough so everyone knows they're going to an "opening" or "The Hills" or "Rodeo" or some other vaguely self aggrandising poo poo. - Complaining about meals that weren't their special Low FODMAP gluten free vegan kosher nut free whatever. Like bitch it's a 4 hour flight eat a banana before you board and stfu if you're going to die from gluten. So to answer your question OP, I think Californians are weird self entitled shameless assholes. They could use a bit more of that good old Midwestern guilt in their lives.

According to my favorite punk band there's no place as bad as Southern California (they were from San Francisco). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2eFuQn6nnw

I think we should form our own country then point at the rest of the US (and then central valley) and laugh.

California is massive and has many different distinct areas with different cultures and vibes so it's impossible to generalize really. When people talk about "Californians" I think they generally mean folks from the So Cal LA & San Diego area or the SF bay area, but those locales don't represent the entire state.

Californians are like people anywhere else. You have cool people, assholes, a variety of political beliefs, etc. It's just that there are a lot of people there so its a huge spectrum. Granted that things skewed a bit if you are talking about beach people, mountain people, farming people, city people, and homeless people; etc. One of the things that burned me out on Cali was the traffic. A 17 mile commute taking an hour; 15 years ago. So many people; and it's only gotten worse. It fundamentally changes people with respect to the idea that "this is normal".

In my area they're mostly considered techbro carpetbaggers who get blamed for our unaffordable housing and buying up all the houses/condos and all of the negatively viewed local changes. In the nearest sticks, folks still use California/n like a slur. Personally don't really care about Californians one way or the other.

californians surely drive bad (regardless of the weather i guess). of all the places i've been in the US, they are the worst drivers by far. the worst experience was having a car almost running over me in a bike path in santa monica i find it really weird that you guys can turn right even if the sign is red, it took me some almost runovers to figure this out

In my experience the most rabid anti-California types are chuds worried about more Democrats moving to their state, even though many transplants are actually fellow chuds. See: Texas and Idaho.
