So are Daleks but I'm okay with their being one goofy major antagonist faction, not two. They just look so gosh darn stupid. Ohhhhh wow they are an existential threat very scary.

I can't remember what the "whole deal" with Cybermen is, but I do kinda remember the backstory with daleks and once you see that one they are a lot more sad than goofy.

Obligatory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vu6_IxkAHsI Cybermen are cooler when they're body-horror Borg-lites (yes, I know the Borg were inspired by the Cybermen). But then again, that can lead to stupid poo poo like this: ![]() Anyway, best Cybermen are sing-songy Mondasian Cybermen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBHGbBJwyh0

Zombies are also kinda silly when you look at them from a zoomed-out perspective, but the whole rotting corpse aesthetic is at least interesting compared to robot suits with handlebars on their heads.

I don't remember these Star War characters. Are they in the new movies?

I had a friend that was super into Doctor Who and made me promise to watch a few episodes, it's bad, like, everything about it is bad, the acting, the set design, the makeup, the special effects, the plot, the characters. So, I thought, people must like this ironically? There is something that I am missing, right? No, apparently people genuinely like it and think it is good? Look, I'm not above watching bad TV but I'm not about to join a Chicago Med fan club and put 90 Day Fiancee stickers on my car.

Good news then OP, you do not have to worry about there being two goofy major antagonist factions in Doctor Who.
Eccleston was the best of the new Who
There's like 900 antagonist factions and they all play a key role in the development of at least one of the doctors in a way that you think has been forgotten for 30 years but actually they've been making bespoke prohibitively expensive radio dramas going into extreme detail on the ways in which that's connected to the modern stories and there will be many a wink and nod to that in the next special event.

I love Doctor Who and have been around it since literally the day I was born (mom was watching The Invisible Enemy in the hospital), but I can freely admit that some episodes are the worst dogshit I've seen committed to screen.

DeadFatDuckFat posted:Are all the different doctors supposed to be the same person Ya, they came up with the plot device that the doctor regenerates into a new appearance instead of dying so they could write the OG actor out and then it's been retconned endless times since. The real question is how many other doctor who characters are supposed to be the doctor.

Capaldi got one extremely good episode (the river song one) and it apparently had to be balanced out with mediocre-to-terrible writing for all his other episodes. I wish he got at least one series' worth of solid eps, he deserved it
