If you all remember MLB Slugfest for the Xbox, PS2, or GameCube you might also remember the absolutely crackrock back-and-forths between the announcers. Turns out, those were all approved by MLB. Last week, the Video Game History Foundation released an archive of audio that was recorded for MLB Slugfest but never used in the game because it didn't get MLB approval. There's about four thousand audio clips here. This includes sound effects. The announcer banter is generally filenames containing variations of the string "random comment" or "random remark". Such as x_pp_rand_remark_13_1 and x_pp_rand_remark_13_2, which add up to: quote:Enjoying some smoked whale meat up here in the booth today. I don’t really care for it but I can’t stop eating it. There's also a transcript of all the rejected random comment here. It weighs in at about four pages. The very end of this manifest contains transcripts of the announcer banter in each audio file (so that you can match the banter with the filename). This thing is a moon rock. Super interesting. What you do with it I don't know.
