dodged at least 3 rounds of layoffs so far this year, will probably manage to squeak into next year unscathed. it's only a matter of time though, bad economic forecasts and the government shutdown causing chaos, eventually i'll get got. one of my last remaining friends at work got laid off on thursday ![]() but i'm saving up a lot in preparation, i should be fine without a job for a good while

Was unemployed from March to October before finally finding this new gig that pays a lot less but is fully remote, a lot less stress, and no travel requirement. I like it OK so far other than I’m not doing the job I was hired for yet and I haven’t gotten any training at all these first three weeks.

I am gainfully employed with a growing company and they tell me I'm a natural leader.

It took 15 years, but I've got a job that pays well, has good hours, is in the field I went to school for, and makes me actually feel like I'm accomplishing something. Assuming that nothing completely nukes the global economy and annihilates the company, I'm perfectly content to work here until I retire

kuarduck posted:Stupid 9am standup That's hosed up My previous job I was a manager of a team of four underlings, they were very good but they were all early-riser dog people and I'm a sleep-in cat person. How I maintained their respect the whole time is a testament to my managerial skills I guess. Company culture sucked tho Anyway now I have a semi in person role working on the parts of a med device where the tech scares most people who aren't me, hopefully that means job security (FPGAs and Linux)

100% disabled, and not likely to get better. Luckily, I made enough while I was working that my disability payments are livable, thanks to subsidized housing. Luckily, I also don’t have to rely on SNAP to eat.

I work in a Quality related field and I am loving it. Pay is great. I dont work more than 40 hours a week. I get killer PTO and health benefits. And the only time I am required at the office is on monday's or during an audit. Job also allows me to travel to different states. Which is also very neat. Hotels, Flights, and meals all paid for.

I have a new co-worker. On our second meeting in about 2 minutes a discussion about eye allergies descended into her talking about her trying to break into her husband's home, who she was divorcing, blacked out on Ambien. I love her more than anything in my workplace right now, my boss actually asked me to explain myself because "Literarily everyone annoys you, am I missing something?" I don't know what to say, she may be my spirit animal.

Three Olives posted:The only problem I see here is your lack of whimsy. I've got whimsy for days (see past history of breakdancing style posts) but blacking out and breaking into a romantic partners house is widely considered poor form regardless of the gender of the person or the drug involved and it's kinda gross that you get a giddy little thrill from this stuff. As a thought experiment, if a male coworker had done the same would you view it as whimsical or sinister? What if they were on Xanax instead of Ambien? I'll help: it's domestic violence in both cases
