Hi, I'm sure someone here has too much knowledge about animal feces and what type of animal does what, right? So anyway This was outside my door a few days ago I'm guessing a rabbit scat, but this is up 8 feet off the earth on a small deck. And it looks really runny. Could a bird have done this? Thanks in advance, Your wendigee ![]() Happy Friday

That's like a large amount. My hand expanded wouldn't cover the entire area.

I'm guessing deer.

Where you get that beauty scar, tough guy? Eating pineapple?

It does look like deer.. but... It would have had to walk up 2 tight lines of stairs. I'm thinking maybe a raccoon with a loose stool Or perhaps the berries were poisonous and they got removed quickly. A bird seems most likely. It's the quantity makes me question a bird.

I have a small scar on the inside on my left hand from when I was a kid and cut my hand with a knife while trying to slice a pear. Beyond that I can't be of much help.

That is civet scat. You would be a fool not to take that inside, plop that into a coffee filter, and brew yourself a nice hot cup.

There ain't no civets in Wichita, Kansas!

I'm leaning toward some kind of bird that has ate a bunch of berries or stuff that were not great for it and just had a big rear end poo poo

Sorry OP, I needed to go really bad and traveling to Kansas and climbing up onto your deck was the easiest way for me to take care of business.

The migration has started. Imagine that sound times 15x when there are hundreds instead of 30 ducks.BAGS FLY AT NOON posted:Sorry OP, I needed to go really bad and traveling to Kansas and climbing up onto your deck was the easiest way for me to take care of business.

If a rabbit made that, it’s already dead and you don’t need to worry about it

I've had the boys in the lab working on this day and night for a while, and I gotta give 'em a break. So the answer we came up with is: Raccoon vomit

Birds don't poop like mammals do, it's not all brown like that. There's usually a white part and a darker chunk I guess. I would say whatever it was it looks like it had diarrhea which I would think would make it hard to identify. I don't know anything about different animal scat though. I know like... bears and rabbits and that's about it.
