What a strange choice to suck the life out and turn into a generic movie.

There are some fun set pieces but it never gets as good as it should have been. Props to whoever cut the trailer, just watch that.

I haven't seen it but the trailers make it seem a lot more like the book which I just read about a month ago. I love the Arnold movie and don't like Glen Powell despite having no reason to but I'd like to see this new one some day.

Trailer made it look more true to the book than the 80s version, but I'm sure it's still not that close. No way they use the book ending post 9/11. I saw there's a Long Walk movie coming soon that's bound to be terrible as well. ![]() Makes me sad because both of them are among my all time fav Steve books.

To be fair, the 80s movie had nothing to do with the book besides the base concept so there is some untapped potential here if they wanted to do a proper adaptation instead of a fun romp loaded to the gills with goofy one liners and silly assassins. To anyone that watched it: Did they keep to the book's ending or were they lame weenies?

FoolyCharged posted:To be fair, the 80s movie had nothing to do with the book besides the base concept Yeah, the only face to face interaction Richards has with a hunter in the book is with one really boring rear end dude. Otherwise it's just cops and civilians. I'd imagine King was not happy at all with the 80s movie but I sure was. I watch it at least once a year. It's fun! Richard Dawson is great and Charlie's mom is even in it.

Arnold movies should never be remade. He isn't a great actor but he is a singularly un-followable one. Go on stage after Arnold, I dare you. C'MON! DOOO IT! DOOO IT NOWWWW!

I don't think it's fair to compare the two movies because the new one is over a half hour longer, so Glenn was able to run a lot farther than Arnold could.
