Your daily reminder that you are going to die someday and probably sooner than it feels like - Star Wars: The Force Awakens celebrates the tenth anniversary of its world premiere, December 14, 2015. It saw wide release four days later and was a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, grossing $2 billion globally and in particular is still the highest grossing movie ever at the US box office, earning nearly a billion there alone.![]() Honestly, I never really cared for the film, I think many of the complaints people had for its two successors actually all started here. If anything, I appreciated The Last Jedi taking time to deal with the fallout from the lovely background events of The Force Awakens, and I honestly enjoyed the camp matinee stupidity of Rise of Skywalker which I think captured the Star Wars spirit better than fans care to admit. Though I first saw The Force Awakens as the finale of a day-long Star Wars saga theater marathon so it was probably the most unfair way possible to come at the new film. ![]() Hot takes aside! The excitement and positivity surrounding the release of The Force Awakens was infectious and I look back on that time with some fondness. We got to see some talented folks break through like Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega, and also got to see some old vets return like Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and like two seconds of Mark Hamilton! ![]() I think he might have also enjoyed the renewed attention, possibly.

"Mark Hamilton" was an autocorrect typo but I'm keeping it in because I think he would've had a better career and been altogether more happy in life if that was his name.

TLJ is decent. ROS is nearly so bad it's good, i lost it at palpatine bass boom and like 3 other scenes. but TFA is nothing but extremely boring, safe, plodding story beats, poorly filmed and poorly choreographed action, and some impressively bland acting. it stinks!

This movie in retrospect sucked rear end, but it was fun to speculate about where the story would go and how fun the characters seemed to be while they were still undeveloped. We didn't anticipate that what would follow would be an absolute nightmare and some of the lowest points of Star Wars ever, even more so than the prequels. The Force Awakens is maybe the most coherent of the bunch, but all three are god awful trash.

Return of the Sith was 20 years ago. Now that's a long time, makes you think about everything that's happened since then, man on the moon, 7/11, great recessions, Iphone, 5G, 3D TVs, blorkchain.

The franchise has fallen so low that there weren't even any promotional blue milkshakes at McDarths

Honestly like the first 10-20ish mins Finn and Poe tie fighter bit is actually a lot of fun and the characters have great chemistry then they are separated from each other for the rest of the trilogy and it's a shame what could have been
