It took me like five years to stop having this full quote go through my head every time I had a steak. And now it will probably start again.

Also Glowing-Fish while I understand what you are saying, in that of course other movie quotes can be funny as well, the moment you open it up to "ANY MOVIE QUOTE IN A FAMILY CIRCUS STRIP!" it becomes a very different kind of thread, and then you get the people posting not getting the references. It is not like I am mad that people posted other kinds of strips but there is something inherently perfect about parodying the Matrix (and Family Circus, too) that makes this thread wonderful.

If one must use a non-Matrix trilogy quote, it would be nice if they let us know what it's from.

I am so excited by this, you have no idea.

I hope I am not ruining everything by instantly giving context.

In one newspaper at some point in the 1980s the "Far Side" and "Dennis the Menace" captions were accidentally switched once. This was the result, the best Dennis the Menace comic ever:

Not being familiar enough with the Matrix to quote from it I like to read this thread thinking all the quotes, even the obviously non-Matrix quotes, are actually Matrix quotes which makes it even funnier.

It was a neanderthal fortune teller gazing into a crystal ball and telling another caveman his future. The caption read "If I get as big as Dad, won't my skin be too TIGHT?"

I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum. I've seen those films so many times that I immediately recognise which ones aren't from the matrix trilogy. :v:

A friend of mine has been doing this with the Family Circus since ye olde pre-internet days. Back then he'd white out the captions in paperback collections and add lots of satanism, incest, and murder.

These days he's doing it every morning with the day's current comic:
