im looking around this mario fan wiki and i havent played nintendo since like n64 so im seeing these characters and it'll say "this character first appeared as a playable character in mario kart: gotta go fast!!" with a hyperlink to the game name and im like "oh this must be a legit character" since there's articles on actual non-fan characters like mario and bowser too. it turns out they're making up fictional mario games and mario spinoffs in their fanon and listing character appearances in those games like this one: http://mariofanon.wikia.com/wiki/Wario_Kart:_First_From_The_Start! i don't get it, what story is there even in mario games to insert your mary sues into??

Some detailed characters even have /different outfits/ for whatever game they didn't appear in. My favorite is the fake Sonic the Hedgehog tv show lores. People write pages and pages of synopsis for sonic TV shows where self inserts meet sanic and help him fight evil.
