iPad games are also awful the only two I play are chess and sim city but sim city is more like an aquarium than a game since I log on once a day to collect money and rearrange buildings in my little tranquil coontown

I just got Final Fantasy 7 on my phone and I play it when I poop. It's fun because on the phone version you can start out with max stats and gold and just wander around, killing stuff.

it's almost like people want games they can play for a few minutes in their off time on their phone as opposed to games where they need to learn a series of rules or work on their hand eye coordination so they can be "competitive" its almost like they want a simple distraction and not something complicated to throw themselves into for hours on end

The Lara croft GO game is really good, and a more faithful adaptation of the original psx game than the most recent AAA reboot.

I am jealous of successful mobile game creators, it has to be the one of the best effort to financial reward ratios.

JiveHonky posted:you would think there would be more variety since the development tools are so readily available but there isn't an ounce of originality Eh, if people are trying to make money, they'll iterate on something that works. When I was out of work, I taught myself enough Unity to put together what I think is a fairly unique version of an infinite runner game. But I wasn't expecting to make money off it - I stuck Google ads on the pause screen but to date haven't made enough to get paid for it. It's on the Play store, one of these days I'll spring for the iOS developer license and port it over. My next project was going to be a F2P Pokemon type game with microtransactions. The Hearthstone kind where it's faster to pay money but you can still get everything through playing. Because pay to win bothers me, but I'd still like to someday make money off one of my game projects. But then I got a job again and haven't had the time to get back to it. It's on my list of eventual games to make.
