Because I'm a lazy rear end, here's the info straight from the Steam Page Deep Rock Galactic is a 1-4 player co-op FPS featuring badass space Dwarves, 100% destructible environments, procedurally-generated caves, and endless hordes of alien monsters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgTWmKFuMZ8 1-4 PLAYER CO-OP Work together as a team to dig, explore, and fight your way through a massive cave system filled with hordes of deadly enemies and valuable resources. You will need to rely on your teammates if you want to survive the most hostile cave systems in the galaxy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yN79iN0c8jI 4 UNIQUE CLASSES Pick the right class for the job. Mow through enemies as the Gunner, scout ahead and light up the caves as the Scout, chew through solid rock as the Driller, or support the team with defensive structures and turrets as the Engineer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOJEi6-zEqc FULLY DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENTS Destroy everything around you to reach your goal. There is no set path so you can complete your mission your way. Drill straight down to your objective or build an intricate network of paths to explore your surroundings -- the choice is yours. But proceed with caution, you don’t want to stumble into an alien swarm unprepared! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjwi9x_Fw7E PROCEDURALLY GENERATED CAVE NETWORK Explore a network of procedurally generated cave systems filled with enemies to fight and riches to collect. There’s always something new to discover and no two playthroughs are alike. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA_A7ib3wXc HIGH-TECH GADGETS AND WEAPONS Dwarves know what they need to bring to get the job done. This means the most powerful weapons and the most advanced gadgets around - flamethrowers, gatling guns, portable platform launchers, and much, much more. LIGHT YOUR PATH The underground caves are dark and full of terrors. You will need to bring your own lights if you want to illuminate these pitch-black caverns. A friend and I bought this a few weeks ago looking for a good co-op game. Not to make this thread sound like goddamn viral marketing, but it's one of the best impulse purchases I've made in a long time. I'm continually impressed by how well-designed the gameplay is, and how the developers balance the usefulness of all four classes across missions and biomes. It's a little Left 4 Dead and a little Minecraft but also reminds me, of all things, of Down in the Bonehoard from Thief 1. The cavern complexes have that same sense of size and a lot of fun is in finding (and keeping) your bearings. I'm probably just an old crotchety gently caress but something about Deep Rock (and, frankly, a lot of early releases now, like RoR2) reminds me of how games used to be when I was younger. The graphics are a little clunky and the gameplay has a couple rough edges but it doesn't give me that feeling like I'm playing something that's been designed to capture my attention and fleece me through microtransactions. The only nits I'd otherwise pick are that the missions can be a little repetitive and the grind for levels feels a little long, but there's a lengthy release roadmap that includes new missions, biomes, and weapons. Anyway it's a pretty good game so check it out. Thanks for readin Asbury fucked around with this message at 02:37 on Jun 11, 2019 |
