Resident Evil 5. I've played this a lot with others, but I'm working on my own file single player, and I've heard mostly terrible things about the AI partner. Is there a certain way to play that'll make her tolerable and not gently caress up the game for me?

Its all about the weapon you give her. Keep her away from the stun rod, and give her a pistol and a rifle and go to town.

Un malheur ne vient jamais seul.
Some advice nobody asked for because I've been playing this game for a long-rear end time and I'm glad it's finally over.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
· Press X to select all.
· Talk to everybody in the Sky Saloon between missions when you get it.
· Get at least one of every weapon forged as they come up. You'll only be able to make one Everburn weapon for most of the game, but other than that it should be possible.
· This game drags. I personally thought it was an all right game, but the missions are slow and the story is slower. I think The Young & the Restless goes faster than this game.
· The game's very last battle is a gigantic difficulty spike. On top of that, the difficulty of the final battle is proportionate to your completion rate up to that point. This means that if you completed almost all the side missions before the end, while you'll be very powerful, you'll have to do a shitload of grinding not to get curb-stomped.
Do all the missions you can (probably all but one or two), then grind your loving rear end off at Midlight's Deep.
· If you do every single last side mission before the final battle, the enemies will be at Level 99. And it's not quick or easy to get your characters ground up to that point either.

They do that, it's a bit :v:. Same thing happens with the hyperspace inhibitors (enemy capital ships) that come up later in the campaign.

After telling them to attack, immediately left-click them, and press m to move them back a little (about 1.5 - 2 ship lengths)

They'll keep their guns forward and reverse a little; make sure their move circle is red, to indicate that they're still attacking.

Of course, you should have 6-7 harvesters handy because you've been sperging out with your salvage corvettes and stealing them from the enemy along with everything else in their fleet. Tell them to harvest the asteroids (manually) and you can pull out about 1200 RU's over the course of the level.

I just picked up Ninjatown for the DS, as recommended by the Tower Defense thread, and I'm loving every second of it. However, I'm 70% through the game and now I just can't beat ANY of the levels. They've gotten way to complex for me, or the game is just better than me. :( I can play them through on easy once I unlock easy, but I'd love to be able to beat them.

Does anyone have any tips or anything for Ninjatown so I can power through?

I've had Silent Hill 2 sitting around for years, and I think I might give it another shot.

From what i remember the combat was really terrible, just me swinging a plank of wood at some torso doubleleg things and getting bored of the fog and all the damned locked doors in a hotel.

Any tips? Is this game still worth it? I went through the first pyramid head encounter and all i felt was boredom and mild frustration.

If you don't like all the locked doors in the hotel then realize that almost every place you visit is going to have craploads of them. I think the good news is that James turns his head to look at doors that are capable of being opened.

My own tips for Far Cry 2. Not much of how to beat the game tips, but I read a lot of people were disappointed by the game. I was too the first time I tried it, but now when I play it, it's great.

If you're tired of driving around, take the water route. They're usually even faster than driving, less checkpoints around and you'll be surprised how different the environment looks from water.

Use the buses, they minimize the travel time.

Don't stick to the usual guns. First time I played the game, I carried an UZI, some assault rifle and a machine gun. Buy the flare gun, buy the grenade launcher, try out everything.

Explore the world. Sometimes I just play without doing any missions, just driving around and checking out places I haven't been to. You'll obviously get much diamonds too.

Don't rush the main quest. Do the buddy missions, they often expand the usual "go here, blow up this" missions.

Don't instantly reload when you die. I beat the game first time without noticing the awesome buddy rescues.

Also, some of my own rules I've set when playing now, and they are quite fun:

* Hardest difficulty
* No syringes except inbetween fights. Restocking only when small packs are found.
* Using only weapons found on enemies.
* No restocking of ammo / grenades / molotovs on checkpoints / gun shop. Just grab the small packs if you find them.
* gently caress malaria medicine, you aren't allowed to get it. My character collapsed from malaria just as me and Frank were blasting our way out of Pala, after a mission there. He went missing :(

Anyway, remember to have fun. The game is best played in one, tops two hour sessions.

tip: the point of the game is not combat, it is storytelling and atmosphere. Definitely worth it if you just keep at it. More often than not you should just run away from stuff in the streets and just kill stuff indoors if it's in your way.

Avoiding combat is best if you're going for the "best" ending, since taking damage and going a long time without healing both move you towards one of the two "bad" endings.

1. Don't Rush: Play on the slowest speed possible for as long as possible or you'll just get swamped by having too many things to manage and not enough time to manage it all. By all means, up the speed when you're going somewhere or just walking around but be very careful as you're liable to wind up with dead people.

2. Dead People: You're going to lose people, good people, unless you're some sort of master player or insane with the saving and reloading. This is a natural thing for Myth. Not everyone is going to get out of it alive.

3. Micromanage: Make sure your archers are shooting and your dwarves are throwing and make sure they're not shooting your damned people in the back. Babysit.

4. Learn from Example: Here's a Let's Play of Myth: The Fallen Lords, watch it and learn from a true master. http://www.letsplayarchive.com/

Silent Hill 2 is good if you like getting into the story and imagery in a game. Shooting monsters and boss fights are really a little bit of an afterthought. You're essentially solving puzzles and removing obstacles to get to the next bit of story.

The people who rave about Silent Hill 2, myself included, are the type of people who can become emotionally invested in a game's story and it's characters. If this is you then keep playing, the game finds it's legs about half an hour after you stopped playing, you have more of a goal and less wandering aimlessly in the fog.

Don't expect a fast moving plot though, it's more of a slow lead up to a climax.

-If you've been using a certain pin for a long period of time, keep using it until it runs out. This will give it time to recharge while you use another one.
-Try to set up your pins so that you always have one to use during a battle. Testing the amount of time one pin takes to run out compared to the recharge time of your other pins is a good strategy.
-Remember to equip your pins toward the beginning of the game! The game doesn't do it for you and you will be a sitting duck if you don't.

How do I get certain pins to evolve? Sometimes, it'll say that they CAN evolve, but they won't when they hit the final level. Other times, they'll evolve. I don't really know how to get them to evolve.

The manual says something like "Make sure to notice what color the experience bar is!" What does that mean? :(

Spank me if I post
Im trying out Crawl: Stone Soup for the first time and I have been getting creamed as a Demigod monk. Looking up other posts about monks on the internet make it seem like they are super killing machines (my favorite kind of monk) but my level 9 guy is Unarmed-9, Fighting-5 and getting his poo poo pushed in by half of the things at DungLvl ~11.
Wearing a +2 robe, +0 boots and rings of magic power and cold resistance with a amulet of warding. I also throw darts and shoot frost arrows at range.
Can I have some help on how to make this guy deal damage and survive battles consistently? Is there something I missed while skimming the manual that affects Unarmed combat?

Just found the thread, gonna ask there too.

Pins can level up with 3 types of PP. Battle, shut down (leaving the system off) and mingle (leave the system WiFi in mingle mode). They'll only evolve if the right type of PP is the majority of their PP. http://twewy.wikia.com/wiki/Pin_Evolution

Nothing I can thing of right now in regards to the grid, but you can tell a mimic if you look closely at the lock on the chest. I think it'll be a weird spiky brown shape.

Monks are awesome. Get your characters, even the ones you want to be mages, to use the Monk job for a while. Having a Black Mage that can punch things with the efficiency of a Monk is good. Also, don't worry too much about grinding for job points. There's a point near the middle of the game where it's really easy to stack up a lot of them with a Blue Mage, and then there's another part at the end of the game where a certain enemy group will give like 90JP per battle or something like that. There's a bug that allows you to always encounter them after one fight, too.

I'm about to start playing Skies of Arcadia (Legends version on the GameCube if that matters). Any tips?

If you do the missions, you'll be waaaay overpowered for the main game, which may or may not be your thing. There are ways to use materia combining to raise your stats to obscene levels. Combining is a much better way of raising materia stats, not levelling the materia itself, and I recommend reading an FAQ on it because it has some...intricacies. But yeah, getting +9999% HP and whatnot is great.

It's been a while since I played but, here's a few for Makai Kingdom off the top of my head:
  • You can heal every one on the map by healing Zetta.
  • Don't forget to use buildings
  • When possible create units from things that have at least 1 star. It increases their stats and allows transmigration without sacrificing mana to make a building.

There's some nice blue magic you can get early on that's pretty nice. Learn L5 Doom in the Ancient Library. The blue head enemy (Page 128?) uses it. I think it needs to connect on one character so you can learn it. While you're at it, learn Doom Claw from Doom Claw (mandatory boss fight). Single digit HP and paralyze effect? Hell yes! It even works on some bosses (but I can't remember which for the life of me)
