Wow, I thought Dust Man was literally someone at Capcom getting mad as hell at some office equipment and they decided to make a robot master out of it.

Man, am I the only one who really loved the Zero series art direction? I thought it was different and neat. Yeah, the characters looked 'young' but that's literally every character, so it's clearly a stylistic choice. Besides. I really REALLY loved X's designs, both Copy X and Real X. Best looking X (besides red scarf X). But then again I also love Astro Boy and he's a shirtless childlike robot in underwear who has gun barrels that come out of his buttcheeks. I don't think there's anything wrong with being taken by the artstyle of the Zero series, since any creepy associations are basically retrospective after everyone learned what Inticreates' next winning game idea was going to be. Put a bit of a disturbing spin on everything. That said, I loathe its character design and I always have. It's just that the animation and stage art/enemy spritework make up for it.

Simply Simon posted:I read somewhere that this was the original plan and they had written it out already and poo poo. No, that's true. Inafune claimed this. His original plan for Zero WAS that X finally snapped from the constant mistakes of humanity and realized totalitarianism was the only way to maintain peace. X-6 screwed it all up; that's why they had to backpedal so much and make both MMZ's X and Zero out to be clones. Silly.

x6 is like rocky V. Seriously, it is one of the most vile games of Megaman x ever. And yes Simon, you were right. Orginally Infaune wanted X to become the bigbad at the end of X. So technically he got his wish with Mega Man Zero.. Also.. wait.. that is Spencer in the next gen Bionic Commando? IT DOESN'T EVEN LOOK LIKE HIM. gah. edit: Oh god, dont' get me started with that clone bullshit. It was stupid in X8 and it was stupid in Megaman Zero series. I still think that Zero's storyline holds up pretty well even with last-minute changes. Clones and all. It's another kind of bold move to say "uh Zero you realize you're NOT the Zero everyone, including yourself, thought you were?". They did a good job of converting what X6 forced onto them into a nice twist at the end.

Oh believe, the Zero and ZX series were really stupid. All I could think, why not keep it simple like Wily and Sigma.. It just gets unneccesarily dumb as the game goes on. At least MegaMan online (which isn't canceled suprisingly) Says from the get go that the characters are dead and you are playing as copies of X,Zero and Duo..(Yeah duo)

Duo is awesome and should be in every game either. He karate chopped a giant robot's face in half, then ripped out its black heart and crushed it in his oversized hand. If he didn't, the eviw enewgy would be spread in matter of days.

You know, I'm not too bothered that Mega Man isn't really happening anymore. You know why? Because there are so many Mega Man games. You could pretty much play them forever. There's nothing quite like playing a new game for the first time, but there's so many of 'em it out there probably isn't too hard to go back and find something new and different. It's been like twenty-five years now, right? He had a good run. Let's appreciate what we've got.

So why did X6 suddenly make it so the Zero and X in the Zero games had to be copies? I never fully understood the garbled horseshit that X6's translation was.

I never fully understood the garbled horseshit that X6's translation was. It didn't sort of. Zero dies in X5 supposedly for good and X promises to carry on Zero's legacy. Then X6 comes out and Zero is alive again somehow and X is still doing the same poo poo he always was. So the storyline just kept on going when Inafune wanted it to end at X5.

I was laughing. It was pretty much they didn't give a poo poo at that point. I mean yes, companies caring about stories is laughable always, but they at least try to make an effort to make it coherent. Right there.. That was just lazy. Oh Sigma speaking in all caps in his 2nd form. That was just stupid. What's even more funny is you did beat the x6 game without even bothering to find Zero (for some odd reason they don't really introduce you to do it) he still shows up in the ending. He's like.. oh hey I been hiding behind this rock. I mean at least X2, you have to find parts of Zero in order to get him back. Shindragon fucked around with this message at 03:57 on Sep 11, 2011 |

In my case, it's not the character designs I love so much as it's the way he draws things. It looks kinda like he never really erases his sketch lines, and that gives it a really grainy, coarse, and busy look to it, which I prefer to the very clean, polished look of most anime games. And his variations on the Rider suits always look pretty cool too.

I hadn't noticed this linked. It's a small Q&A with what's allegedly the only person to have played the Prototype demo of Legends 3 that was set to release before the whole project got axed. There's no real mind-blowing revelations in here. It's mostly fluff about technical or cosmetic/plot details. More than anything it lends more credence to what most people assumed, which is that Capcom was doing basically dick in the way of new innovation for the series. From the feel of the demo, the final product probably would've been just another Legends game, down to the bones. And you know, as typical as it is of Capcom's treatment of the franchise's 'evolution', for once I would've been just fine with that. As ambivalent as I am towards the cancellation just by virtue of it being less than a surprise, it is a shame to realize the creative team appeared genuinely into and excited by the project before it fell to executive measures. The biggest double take I had was reading the amount of content thrown into the demo. Knowing Capcom I expected a 30 minute tutorial section and a pair of missions tops.

The first Mega Man I played was 8, and out of all the voices in the hilarious dub I thought Bass was actually decently done. Also, it took me all night to reach the second set of Robot Masters and I couldn't beat any of them. I have the feeling now if I played the game I'd be able to do it. When I got the Anniversary Collection I actually noticed they changed some things in the port of 8 on there. The music looped differently and the large explosion sounds were a lot louder (although it may have been my TV, I have no idea)
