Once you unlock the best grinding spot in the game it'll take like 2 minutes to get 30k souls so I wouldn't worry about it.

When you come out of Quelaag's lair, between the pyromancer trainer and the bonfire, there should be a wooden ramp up. follow the ramp and it takes you to a belt elevator. Ride that poo poo on up and just follow the ladders. It will dump you off in the valley of the drakes and about 30 seconds walk back to fireshrine across the wood bridge. Edit vvvvv Sometimes when you kill enemies they will just add one to your humanity counter (as in they don't drop the item). There is also a vendor somewhere that sells humanity items for 5000 a pop. Co-oping and killing a boss or invading and killing a player also yields humanity. DeathSandwich fucked around with this message at 17:01 on Oct 6, 2011 |

Is there a finite amount of humanity in the game? I seem to have gained some humanity as I played but I never used the consumable humanity items I picked up from corpses. I guess you accumulate some while leveling? The reason I ask is I don't know if I should be stingy about using it to kindle bonfires, or if I should just be upgrading when I can (since bonfires seem more rare'ish than I originally thought they would be). Also I have no idea how to go about upgrading weapons smartly without hoarding everything I find until I decide way late. Can I just start upgrading weapons I find useful (like an ordinary scimitar) or should I wait until I find a unique variant of a weapon I like?

Technically there is a finite amount of humanity items you can get in the game, but killing enemies with counterattacks or backstabs gives you humanity. It's really rare though. Rats have a rare chance to drop humanity so if you're feeling lucky and have the +item drop chance ring from Sen's Fortress you can just farm rats for it. quote:How do you defeat CD? I got him back to his starting zone. You target him and when he starts groaning to attack you wait a second or so, then dodge to the left and keep running. I managed to avoid his attack every time and killed him with a lightning spear. He was pretty easy this way but again I just didn't get hit once. Every other time I fought him he pretty much one shot me.

I believe those are finite. The hollowed woman in the sewers sells it but I bought it once and haven't seen it back on the vendor list. If there is a vendor that sells humanity forever then I've got 50k souls to spend.

Vatek posted:It took me like 20 tries to beat the Taurus because I am godawful at this game, but it felt SO GOOD when I did. Now if only I could get the dodge pattern right on the hidden samurai-type dude with the huge club hidden just before him. For him what worked for me was you have to wait a split second longer than you think when he does his big overhead two-handed slam because the tracking is AMAZING. But once he starts forward with it it just goes straight down. Also once you backstab him once it can be really easy getting more. Just stand behind him and when he gets up start circle strafing around him clockwise SUPER CLOSE. Like right up against him. He will spin in place to stay facing you as you turn but eventually he'll make a little move where he goes to switch from shield and club to two-handed club. As SOON as you see him change his motion from "spinning to track you" to starting to put his shield away, hit attack and you'll get another backstab. The hardest part in that fight after I figured that out was when I would kick him next to a wall I would have to move away for him to get up so I could dodge the big slam again then start getting more backstab chains. It probably took me like 20 backstabs to kill him. You can do it it just takes practice. Also, take your shield off and use your weapon two-handed. He will kill you if you hit him anyway and you get slightly more damage from two-handed. Also make sure you are not encumbered at all, you want to be at less than 25% of your max Equip Burden. Good luck!

Get a grip on reality, for chrissakes, you don't have to respond or even read my posts. Calm down, I'm not spergin' out or anything at you, I'm just telling you what I know. From has already said it was a conscious decision to implement the multiplayer the way it is, and personally I think it's great. Simply for the fact that no other game dared to do something like this. It was the same way in Demon's Souls, so I doubt it was a gently caress up that they just rolled with. They had time to fix it if it was a mistake. These games are truly unique in what they do, and I encourage more developers to push the limits on what is usually accepted in gaming. If you want a CO-OP game, there's plenty out there. If you want a game that allows you to summon someone if you're getting your poo poo pushed in, there's Demon's and Dark Souls. That said, all the poo poo I hear about people having issues with seeing summon stones, I hope they do patch that.

Smelly posted:Calm down, I'm not spergin' out or anything at you, I'm just telling you what I know. I apologize, that wasn't directed at you. I guess I'm just frustrated because, from what I understand, the original game DID in fact allow you to frequently see your friends' summon stones, which is explicitly why a few of mine spent 60$ on this game. Then to find out that they have switched to a P2P system which does NOT allow us to consistently play with one another is really aggravating. Aside from being able to play with my buddies, I have not seen a single summon sign, nor have I ever been summoned when I put one down, and yes, I have read the FAQ on using them correctly. And like you said, I hope they patch that.

You know I was wondering why the weapon felt so lackluster but that might explain it. I'm using a faith build and was really disappointed when I started using it. Even with the magic damage split it was doing pretty much the same as my starting mace. I need to find a real faith-based weapon.
