He's probably just making a card-based board game like Dominion. He's already done one in the form of Puzzle Strike (though that used chips but it could have just as easily been done with cards, and even used terminology like drawing and "stack"). Honestly, PS was a pretty fun game and supposedly Yomi was decent too so I'm sort of excited. And that card art, drat.

sure you can
Nov 3, 2008

Yeah, he drops hints at making something like mtg every so often. It really shouldn't be a big surprise? I mean it's not like has has already made a card game with poor art/settings before.

Have there ever been any 9-1 matchups besides Petshop-Iggy?

Clown vs. Marstorius in Fighter's History Dynamite (Karnov's Revenge) is a 9-1 if you're feeling generous, but I think it's a 10-0. It's absolutely unwinnable for Marstorius.

Here's the thing - Marstorius is a grappler like Zangief, his Double German is like an SPD and has huge range and can be comboed into like other command throws in FHD, etc. But for some reason they ended up giving him a jump that's extremely low to the ground, which makes it hard to get over projectiles. Clown's in particular is the "highest" projectile in the game, so if Clown throws slow fireballs Marstorius has to time his jumps perfectly just to get over them. But even if Mars is jumping over them perfectly, every single one of his jump attacks loses to Clown's standing LP. It's godlike anti-air in this situation. So he gets knocked back by Clown's standing LP and Clown can charge another projectile to throw right back at him. The only other options Marstorius has to get through projectiles are his Moonsault and his Rising Knee. Both moves require a down charge so you can't make any forward progress if you want to do them. And guess what, both moves lose clean to Clown's standing LP too, so there's really no reason to do it. Even if by some miracle Marstorius manages to get close enough to get Clown in one SPD Double German, he can't really go for crossup mixup afterwards because Clown can do upball on wakeup to trade hits and get out of it.

Mars loses to every projectile charcter in FHD, but the Clown matchup is so retardedly bad. Wish I had a video of just how lame it is. And the funny thing about all this is, Clown's nowhere near top tier in the grand scheme of things, he's pretty much smack dab in the middle...

I have a question about ST: whenever I get fireball spam going with Ryu, after like the 4th or 5th fireball the game starts slowing down big time and it really fucks with my timing. I can otherwise frame-perfect fireball spam. Is this GGPO choking on me or is it a ST engine thing?

It happens sometimes when I knock people down out of the air too.

I'm relatively new to the game so I'm not really sure what's going on there.

The head takes 50% damage when it gets hit (but can't block), and if I remember correctly hitting the body and head simultaneously does stack. You just can't do it with non-beam projectiles.

It's not balanced well for multiplayer - arg is super overpowered in anything but 1v1.

In tournaments, the chips are randomized at the start of the match. If you lose a game you get the choice of either re-randomizing the pool or swapping out 1 chip for the chip of your choice.

here's a strategy guide but it'd old and i dunno how often it gets updated.

Also to talk about an actual fighting game in this post: Parasoul looks better and better in every skullgirls video as people seem to be figuring some more poo poo out. And I'm really, really glad cerecopter assist apparently got a nerf, holy poo poo.

The official cthulhu hitbox board cancels left+right input as neutral. However last I checked they haven't banned any controller that actually allows simultaneous left+right.

I'm not sure about KOF2k2UM, but in some KoFs you can cancel guard into a roll at the cost of meter. So in some games the delay is there to give a chance to react, since a fireball hit is usually one active frame only and you can't really time a guard roll cancel out of that.

AB and CD guard cancel can be performed at any point of blockstun. But even if you had to time the guard cancel for fireballs the delay would serve no purpose, because it only happens during a hit.

I doubt this was the intended purpose, but it thankfully causes a lot of Guile touch of death combos to be practically impossible due to the way inputs get dropped during the slowdown.

"Active Frame" describes an active attack, not hitstun or guardstun. The hitstun and guardstun on a fireball is significantly longer than a single frame. Even if it weren't a whole lot, there's also hit pause that gives you even longer to input the GC.

Also like Snicker-Snack said, it's only on hit. :I

It's just there to look cool I guess, but it ends up screwing with your input. It makes certain combos a lot harder than they should be because you basically have to wait for the slowdown to end before you start inputting the next move. In 2k2 that is, not sure how it works in SF2.

I actually meant the frames of the fireball dealing damage after collision (regular fireballs only deal damage for one frame IIRC), but I forgot that you guard cancel during hitstun and not necessarily while being hit

Personally, I want the hitstop and slowdown to stay. Mainly because they give attacks impact and paradoxically make the fight feel smooth.
People call MK's animation stiff when it really not different from any other fighting game because it doesn't have hitstop.

Gwyrgyn Blood

Well Hitstop is definitely a good thing all around. Slowdown I don't mind but it is a little annoying some times.
