Caught up to about Episode 5 now. Caster is one of the few characters I have ever legitimately been scared by in anything and I can't wait to see more of him. Gilgamesh, Lancer, Rider and Berserker are all amazing. Saber... I can never get used to her presence, I've read the VN, played the games, watched the dumb anime and am loving the hell out of this, but I still can't get used to her after all of this time, it's a wonder how I've gone through so much Fate stuff with this still bugging me. Saber and Lancer's fight in the fourth episode was fantastic and it's one of the few times I'm probably going to hate Rider simply because I wanted to see it continue. The mexican stand-off in episode 5 was stupid, but I have to admit I do like how they're not making out Kariya to be that sympathetic given what he does later and what his real intentions were.. Oh yeah, I've been going through some of Zero's music and found two great pieces that haven't been posted yet, Berserker's theme (Spoilers in the comments if you need less reason to read them) is somehow  mixed with  and Sword of Promised Victory is just... wow.

ZIZZ is the music group that has done music for most of Nitro+'s games. Yuki Kajiura is great and all, but ZIZZ deserves another shot at making an anime OST.

You know, in F/SN it always kinda bugged me how apparently everyone was fooled into thinking Saber was a man. I mean, putting aside armored skirt, she still just didn't strike me as looking like a guy really at all. On the other hand, in Fate/Zero, with her dressed up in a suit and with a ponytail instead of a bun, she actually legitimately looks like a blond pretty boy. I guess the clothes make the man after all

I don't think anyone called Saber a man in F/SN at all? At least, that I can remember... granted it's been a while. Also, I wouldn't call Saber's boring. She's reserved, yeah, but she's also a pretty interesting character at least in my opinion.

Saber became interesting to me only when she had a foil. Whether it was Gilgamesh, Assassin or Archer, she was actually interesting when her ideals were clashing with one of them, without a foil I really couldn't care much for her. Saber's not so much boring to me as she's sort of just... there. I love the Knight's Code and the kinds of characters it brings forth (Gawain in Fate/Extra is a pretty awesome character) as you've seen with Zero Lancer, but Saber's just one I can never really get behind for some reason.

Saber's been depicted with this massive fur-lined cape in a fair amount of Takeuchi's art, maybe that helped. Her hairstyle is still a very girly bun though. I liked Saber in FSN. She's basically the cool stoic warrior type in the body of a pint-sized blonde girl. I'll admit that Fate/zero brings up a lot more of the issues with her character, particularly in contrast to Kiritsugu's pragmatism.

I remember liking Saber a lot when I read the VN, but I can't quite remember what she was like before looking at all the spin offs and fan art, now all I can think of is food and lions.

Saber is the most boring character in the show. Mainly because everyone else is at least written to be a somewhat interesting character and they are getting some screen time. Saber is just there like a piece of scenery.

I like Saber because it presents a bit of contrast. Where everyone else is pretty goddamn hammy and over-the-top, Saber is more reserved and quiet. Basically, it's like cranberry sauce in a Thanksgiving meal. You can't enjoy it as much if you don't clean out the taste now and then.

I have a sneaking suspicion they may re-add the h-scenes to this (because otherwise it's basically redundant in the Japanese market except for people who still don't own a PS2) but if not I'll pick it up for sure. And even if they do, I'm sure a lot of people would probably be interested in the chance to pick up the PC version with enhanced graphics and voice acting for less than like a hundred dollars. I have apparently also become Voldemort, which is a little worrying.
