Facebook on Android has been a sonofabitch lately. Half the time the pictures won't load, or i'll get an internal server error trying to enlarge/comment on the photo, or the app won't even pull data at all.

I just use the mobile site. The official app is clunky, insists on using the GPS radio, and always loads slow as hell for me, even on 4G.

Using Google Music with ICS, how do I make music available offline? When I choose that option from the overflow menu, there should be checkboxes, according to the documentation, but I don't get any.

Alright, so I've got a problem that I can't seem to figure out (kind of ironic since I work for HTC and fix problems- epenis++). When I go into the Market app and browse for applications, some applications say they aren't compatible with my device, but if I go onto the Market website, the app says its compatible with my device. I'm running CM7 Inspire 4G and it's really starting to annoy me. I've rebooted my phone numerous times. Anyone ever run into the same issue? This problem started happening like 1 or 2 days ago... Already tried uninstalling Market updates, clearing cache, etc. I did install this Market unlocker app, but then I got rid of it. I hope it didn't mess up my phone. ---------------- Napolean Bonerfarts fucked around with this message at 00:41 on Feb 4, 2012 |

Turns out that iTunes doesn't embed album art when you download it from their servers. I had to delete all my music, add album art by dragging and dropping image files, and then reupload it. Even then it won't upload it sometimes, but it's pretty rare.

I pretty much only use the app for push notifications and the mobile site for everything else.

Is there any decent podcast app that pulls from Reader? aCast, Doggcatcher, and BeyondPod will all do this, but each one seems to have its own glaring flaws as well. All three have some sort of free trial, so it's worth getting them all and playing around with them before deciding. Personally, I put up with BeyondPod's obscenely bad interface for the sake of its power and its ability to actually sync with Reader (as opposed to just importing feeds from it).

Is there any decent podcast app that pulls from Reader? Gonna have to go with Pocket Casts. It's amazingly well built, ICS ready, great interface and uses cloud polling so the app only has to check with the Pocket Cast server for new episodes. The one downside is that it doesn't sync with Reader. It can import your Reader subscriptions but not sync. Honestly, with how happy I am with Pocket Casts I didn't really mind using it to manage my podcasts over Reader. It was worth all of my goony pennies.

The only downside I've found so far is that the widget (which I stick on my WidgetLocker screen) is pretty buggy - it often doesn't respond to presses, or the play button won't change to pause while it's playing, so hitting it again just goes back a couple seconds. However, the developer is very responsive, and has said that they're continuing to work on improving the widget.

Can you resume a track, or only control once it's playing? Both. It'll stay on the lock screen for as long as PC remains in memory (which on ICS seems to be forever). If you stop listening and don't want to see it on the lockscreen anymore you can just swipe PC away on the ICS running apps screen. Note: Image grabbed off Google. I can't stand those AC people.

Is anyone else here seeing highly increased battery drain after installing Avast Anti-Theft? I've been running it for a few hours now and the thing gives more partial wakelocks than the nearest three other services taken together. That doesn't seem normal.

Back to WidgetLocker, I guess.

Im wondering if there is an app that would allow mobile data to be restricted to just the messaging app? I gave my old captivate to my girlfriend so that she could upgrade from her dumbphone. She doesn't have, and doesn't see the need, for a data plan when she is very rarely outside of wifi. Its been working great for her, but I had switch her mobile data off. I did so in order to prevent an outrageous bill if she accidentally turns wifi off, or if an app updates while out of a wifi zone. However, she now can't send or receive mms, at all. Anyone have a solution?

Droid wall is supposed to be (I've never used) good and purpose built for stuff like that. it does require root. edit: Tasker could do it too but you'd have to keep the messaging app on-screen while sending or receiving I think unless you can set some time out to shut data off 2 mins after the messaging application closes. You can receive a notification of a new mms without data on I believe then open your messaging app, tasker turns on mobile data and it downloads. edit: I suppose that way though other unwanted apps could use data in the background while messaging is open. Something else you could try but it's a bit drastic imo, I think there's a way to modify your apn settings to allow for mms only and no internet. I guess its not all that drastic if she truly has no data plan and is being charged by the kb or something. I didn't know any carriers still did that. No, I just wasn't clear, so any confusion is my fault. We are on a&tt. She simply put her sim card into the "hand me down captivate". And unless she is on wifi she treats it as a PDA/dumphone. I was just looking for her to be able to still use mobile data in the way that at&t intended: mms. Droid wall looks like it would do the trick, bit if I could change the apn it would be foolproof. Ill look into that as well.
