Shardok posted:Also, VDay, I doubt you'll be overly gimped by switching to Sorcerer or Mage, especially not Sorcerer given that they get such a high magic gain up to level 100. And even regardless, Assassin still has okay magic attack gain (2 as opposed to 5 for Sorc and 4 for Mage. But if you're really worried, you might want to just switch to Magic Knight for ~10 levels or so first, but that would really only make it take longer to really test out Sorcerer. Probably best to just become Sorcerer and mostly let your pawns do it, although what with the enemies still being normal weaklings, that isn't too necessary no doubt. The thing is, if the game's still the same then I'm going to be getting jack poo poo for experience since I'd be running around level 57 to start. That means that even though I'd be fine stat wise to switch to sorcerer, I wouldn't actually be gaining that many levels which means that by the time I got to the very end of the game to do the postgame stuff again, my magic would be pretty terrible still. Plus I just kind of want to play as a sorcerer without being able to rely on the fact that I'm almost level 60 to survive. Part of the fun of this game was the satisfaction of being able to completely destroy enemies that gave you trouble earlier on.

So... Vivi decided to use Whirlwind (instead of being a moron and casting that aoe fire attack...) on the drake. It takes out a quarter of a life bar per hit. That's a lot of health gone Very fast. Surprisingly it worked better than ice just because it lasted so much longer and was easier for it to hit its weak spot.

Forgeries say so in their description, but only if you are the one who commissioned them (so forgeries received as pawn gifts look genuine to you). They also won't stack, so if you happen to have two genuine items and a forgery, it's easy to tell them apart.

My favorite is when he casts the lightning one that charges the entire party. If he keeps it up for a few seconds then my warrior pawn and I can run up and all the sparks just melt anything less than a drake. Man, those escort quests to Shadowfort were no joke. It's like a boss rush mode. I opted to not follow the path and just cut as straight a line as possible and ran into a Chimera, a Cyclops and then a Drake all one after the other. Mercedes died to the Cyclops somehow (I don't know what really happened to her it was pitch black and she vanished and the quest was failed), which is a shame because her reward seemed like a shield and being a tanky fighter dude I really wanted it. I managed to get the guy there by running past the Drake because that thing had a LOT of fuckin' health and I had zero consumables left. The 2 handed sword is useless to me and my pawn. It's worth like 115k though so I really regret failing getting Mercedes there as the shield probably owned.

I missed a lot of quests on accident at the beginning so by the time I realized it I just said "gently caress it" and skipped through a good chunk of the side stuff to beat it quicker and move on to NG+ for a proper 100% run. It still took me a decent amount of time to beat, and I ended the game at like lvl 53 or so. The only problem is that I did this first playthrough as sorcerer and really want to give assassin/strider/fighter a try but feel like I've gimped myself quite a bit by reaching this point without raising HP or strength or anything. Is there anyone going through NG+ that can comment on what level progression is like? If it's not too bad then maybe I can salvage things That post-game and ending though, holy poo poo

Dark Souls is perfectly beatable at any level, it all comes down pretty much to skill in that game As far as the ogre, I'm kinda disappointed. I went and found other quests, I ran around the world killing all sorts of poo poo, making my way to level 25 before going back to Gran Soren. The ogre then proceeds to kill itself jumping off the cliff with my main pawn when I get it, fairly easily, to half health. Instead of running out, I justified my power-leveling by killing every tentacle that spawned on the way back up.

It's in your status page. Press start. For other meaningless numbers, I think you can check your pawn's ranking by using the rift stone to search for pawns. Also, in the chamber the Ur Dragon is in there's a plaque ranking the people who have defeated the dragon. There was nobody on it as of when I played earlier today, but the dragon was almost dead. Anyone post dragon should take a swing at it! You don't need to kill it, you just need to survive until it leaves. So long as you hurt it you get something.

Man I love this post game content that's really just a continuation of the story. What's great about this game is it's hard. Even though i'm not dying, I have the illusion of that I'm struggling to win these fights. I imagine at the end of fights with dragons my dude would be seriously coughing up a lung trying to catch a breath. I have the worst luck with getting dragon forged stuff. I've killed like eight dragons, and nothings been dragon forged.

What an awesome game. Just did my first Drake fight at level 30, seriously epic. When he grabbed one of my pawns and went YOUR WILL IS MINE I was like . Getting in there and thrusting my sword into his beating heart was pretty much the best feeling I've had in a game since Shadow of the Colossus or Monster Hunter. I've been playing as a Warrior and while it is pretty lame you only get 3 skills, the class seems really strong. It took me a while to get used to the charge-up skills, but I can stunlock an Ogre with my Indomitable Lash skill, and I used Arc of Deliverance (It has a 15 second charge time!) on a knocked down Chimera and nearly one shot it, so I'm in love. My Gamertag is AttacusBaconius, my pawn is a Ranger with pretty good gear, lots of monster and quest knowledge, and lots of crowd control abilities! Use her! I need delicious Rift Crystals!

Helped that I had an all-female party (it's bloody hard to find male pawns for some reason!) so the ogre pretty much ignored me and I could keep bringing my pawns back to life. Then with a sliver of health left it caught me with a wild swing and I went off the edge and pancaked Also, regarding that weird bug where your pawn's gift show up but the reviews don't, does not give you rift crystals until a review actually shows up? Because I finally got one and it came with a whopping 4000 crystals!

Sounds like you pretty much had the perfect setup for that fight, honestly. Me, I ran in there with daggers and my bow and my tank pawn managed to get swiped off the edge straight away. Thankfully, the ogre followed right behind him after Gimpy set his entire torso on fire. Tried to put himself out by rolling and went clear over the edge.

I wonder how other people handle pawns. I've been keeping them until they are far enough below me that it's a burden, then checking if they are leveled up, release them and rehire them if they're closer to my level again. Do other people just go on a couple quests and dump them for fresh meat or something? Most of my returns have been for small amounts if crystals and I don't see any repeat rents, but consistently over 3 stars in battle and usefulness. Grimoire quest It was night when I arrived at Aernst so I couldn't see far enough to tell the transition between hostile and non-aggressive bandits. I just kept killing my way inside until a bandit with a red quest marker was attacking in the middle. I missed whatever quests he had. Idols I missed out twice here. After talking to the duke, I went straight out to save Selene before the idol quests were available. When I got back and saw the quests, I just turned in the bronze idols since I already had them. After that I saw a notice board quest for a silver one. I missed the golden one too since I got a golden egg from doing Symone's escort before talking to the duke. Night in this game is so amazing. I just arrived at Soulflayer Canyon as the sun set. I figured I'd be fine since it is a 'dungeon.' Navigating those narrow pathways at night with harpies and phantasms attacking was intense.
