So, out of curiosity before I pick this up, how feasible is it to solo the game? I feel like being a gigantic git, and running through it with a solo Fighter/Warrior. Is it possible, or am I better off abandoning the idea before I get in too deep?

Some status effects would probably mean instant gameover on a solo play, like enemies spamming sleep or petrification.

Or archers stunlocking you with arrows.

Having a blast with this game, I've gotta say. Running a magic knight at the moment (staff-based) and I've just hit a point where I could not be happier with his abilities. He's got all the best parts of a mage, plus group buffs and shield abilities. I just wish his drat shield didn't clip through everything.

I've taken many of your pawns out for spins and I hope you've done the same with mine (GT: OK Octopus). I was actually able to run through about three solid hours of gameplay yesterday with just goon pawns and it was a blast.

NG+ question: do you use your original character/pawn or do you rebuild them from the ground up (character creator et al)?

It's optional. Your character and pawns default appearance is the same but when you start you can edit them like you could the first time round.

Oh, and wearing women's clothing does not help men talk to the bandit queen Ophis. Maybe it was my moustache that gave me away... Least I got an achievement.

Speaking of achievements, I got one this morning for finding Soul Flayer Canyon. And I accidentally put my lantern into storage and didn't notice until night fell. That was an interesting trip.

Can anyone give me the locations of some wyverns? I know there's one by the Shadow Fort but that's all I've stumbled across. I want to dragon forge all my equipment but there's nary a dragon to be found!

Another question: what are some good skills for a Strider pawn to use that they won't be horrible with? I made my warrior pawn a Strider just to try it out and she's pretty great. Because she still has all the warrior-like augments on (30% more strength) she just melts everything. Coupled with the jump damage improvement she just wrecks small and big enemies alike. It's pretty fantastic.

If it's the Tome quest, yes. I don't think it'll cancel the Find the Traitor/Kill the Women Bandits quest, though.

Man, gifting pawns you really like with lamps and a couple of flasks of oil is a brilliant idea, seeing how no pawn I've journeyed with has carried one.

Torpor is the greatest skill in this game forever. It's a slow, aka the giant killer. Any big enemies that gets torpor'd becomes useless and gets destroyed.

The thing you're thinking of is a Drake, the only time I've seen a wyvern is after You kill the dragon and everything goes to hell. I found it on my way back to Gran Soren from Cassardis Drakes can potentially dragonforge your gear though.

The goat will still cast and the snake will still breath poison but the body just sort of runs around like a lion with it's head cut off and doesn't attack.

Ah, yeah. I had a full female party.

One little detail I really like is how the pawns are characterized. While the chatter can get tiring after a while, it's always a bit unnerving to hear pawns show a bit of personality in one sentence then going to "Beep boop, I live to serve, Master" in the next. It a jarring reminder they're not quite human. My main just commented that she dreams of exploring beyond the horizon one day while walking past the coast. I thought that was pretty :smith:.

You have to wait until the middle of the night, after the night patrol starts. He has to walk through the castle, and over to the meeting place.

Unrelated, but is there some trick to teaching pawns to throw people? It looks like they learn other tendencies based on what you do, so does that hold for pawns as well? Would throwing bandits off cliffs teach your pawn to be a crazy bandit throwing bastard? There is no "throw people" potion at the rift shop.

Yeah, I noticed this too. I think a lot of it has to do with everyone constantly upgrading their pawns at lower levels to narrow the level gap between them and their hired pawns.
Later in the game though, I've personally been rolling with the same couple of guys from level 25-30, mostly because I haven't had cause to switch them out.
So there's definitely a decline in number of hires your pawn may get, but I've noticed the one's he does get are for more substantive.

I can't speak for everyone, but I just hit level 29 and I'm already kind of locked in to which pawns I like to hire. There are two or three pawns that are being leveled more or less as fast as I am, and have gear, skills, and attitudes that work well with my play style.

It's probably a combination of people like me rehiring their favorites, and there just not being as many people at higher levels. I love the game so far, but I expect a large number of people are getting burnt out after 10 or 15 hours.

At 29 my pawn's still getting hired regularly though. I'm going to chalk that up to his striking resemblance to Hulk Hogan.

I opened the gate but both balistas at the far side were active, killed the healer repeatedly because instead of following me downstairs insisted on trying to loving heal me so kept getting smashed. I failed to rout the goblins as a result. How will this impact the quest since I'll likely restart and how do I deal with those balistas? They smashed the one facing them before I could get a decent shot off

If there are people getting burnt out after 10 hours they should feel pretty stupid. That far into the game you've only seen a fraction of the enemies and an even smaller proportion of the skills and gear. The whole point of DD is fighting cool monsters with cool skills while dressed up in pretty awesome stuff!

The upgraded heal takes an eternity to cast and your healers will lag behind all the time. The cast time increase on sorcerer helps a bit with this. It's too bad you can't downgrade the heal.
