And lo, Veyrall did set out into the fields surrounding Gran Soren, and smote 29 oxen and 10 seabirds, a verily the land was made safe from a terrible threat. In recognition for his mighty heroism, he was awarded 45,000G, while a nearby pauper family wept, for they were starving and had no house, having been evicted through the efforts of the heroic Veyrall. I love this game, but I'm beginning to think the local blacksmiths have some kind of psychopathic hatred for benign animals.

This might already be common knowledge, but I was curious what would happen if the normally lovely Tattered Mantle became dragonforged, and the result is that it gets +2% to each elemental resistance and +10% to each of nine different status resistances. It also looks neat.

I read a long time ago, possibly before the game released, that some items would look different when dragonforged, but I've not encountered anything that does yet.

I dunno why but I am so much shorter on money at the beginning of this game compared to the last one. I can hardly ever afford to even stay in the inn, and my main pawn isn't even fully dressed in ANYTHING.

Has anybody dragon-forged a rusted weapon yet? I'm assuming it's still just a lovely weapon with torpor/poison inflictions but could be neat. Also, you can (Seeking Salvation or whatever spoilers) revive the cultist you kill to earn Mason's trust. He runs away immediately, I'm not sure how it changes the game since I loaded my game right after trying it.

So, someone liked my pawn. Gifted Dragon Forged Dragon's Pain, Some fancy shortbow, Dragon's Roar and Abyssal Greaves (which I understand only drop from Ur Dragon). And Small Nuts, just because. I'm still mostly just tooling around with gear and getting stuff Dragon Forged, and spending WAY too much gold in the process. Is there a better way to consistently find Dragon's, rather than just waiting a few days and hoping for a respawn? Also! I've got two Wyvern Tears (but a single Wyrm Tear). Would the effect stack at all? Arach fucked around with this message at 10:17 on Jun 5, 2012 |

When you get random items for your pawn but no breakdown, does it mean someone is actively using your pawn or is it just fake online trickery to make me feel better.

During the trial quest can you influence the outcome by only handing in affidavits of innocence? Or does it just count all the ones you've received so far when figuring out the verdict? Also, where the hell do you find a Wyvern/Wyrm? I'm on NG+ and have seen neither.

Trials: If you want him found innocent you need to get all the innocent petitions, all the forgeries, and escort the guy from the northern castle. It's up to you to actually turn whatever evidence you want in, so if you want him found innocent just turn in all the innocent stuff and don't get or turn in any of the guilty petitions. If you want him found guilty then you apparently don't have to do much as that seems to be the default result. Wyvern/Wyrm: There is a wyrm in the 9th floor/chamber of the Everfall, and a wyvern in the bluemoon tower. Can't fight them during the regular game.

Also beat the Ur-Dragon offline yesterday, it really wasn't very difficult till you get to the wing joints (Yes I would like to spend 10 minutes shooting each wing with a bow) and even then it was more tedious than anything else. Offline the fight shouldn't have the 8 minute time limit, would make the fight harder and much more interesting.

I just finished the regular game and I'm not sure the Arisen's Bond works as advertised. Or that I have any idea how affinity works at all. I gave the bond to Reynard as the last thing I did before leaving to fight the last boss to make sure it would work, then ran straight there, but somehow it ended up picking Madeleine instead. I will just assume I was drunk on Salubrious Brew at the time and not seeing things clearly. No idea how many quests, discounts or whatever I missed by not knowing how affinity works. That aside, so far the postgame is awesome. All I've done is run to Gran Soren and seen the duke, but the run there was awesome. While it may be argued that it's somewhat horrible to pin down a decrepit old man and slit his throat repeatedly, I did find it pretty hilarious/cathartic after everything that had just happened. I killed that loving dragon and I want some recognition, goddammit. However, I never saw this business about the duke choking the duchess and the Arisen apparently getting whipped or something. I seem to have missed all the duchess' quests and such because I ran straight into the duke's hall when I first entered the castle. Can anyone post a summary of what goes on leading to/following that event? It sounds like a big deal. I also fought a Wyrm on the way to the capital in the large field just outside the gate. It might have been a Wyvern, not sure which, but it was the one that has its heart on its back and breathes lightning. At some point it did that cheap attack that one-shots all your pawns, and it took me about 30 seconds to notice because I was on its back just hacking off health bars nonstop with Hundred Kisses. I eventually jumped off to get everybody up, and the awesome Old Snake-resembling sorcerer pawn I had with me called down a meteor shower right when I got back to the heart, slashing off the last of its health as hell rained down. I really wish I had taken a screenshot because it made for an awesome pose as the Wyrm groaned "the doors to God lie open" while Emosnipe and Freighter S. stood over it and meteors were still breaking through the clouds. Game of the year.

Can anyone post a summary of what goes on leading to/following that event? It sounds like a big deal. You get the start of that chain when you go to leave the castle after seeing the Duke. End game spoilers: As soon as you go out of the door and into the castle grounds your camera will pan to the right and show her in the garden. Then you can go over and talk to her. After that when you're next in the castle there will be a servant girl in the main corridor in the castle with a quest, she will tell you to meet her in the garden at night. You're not allowed in the castle at night so you have to sneak past the guards. She tells you the Duchess wants to see you in her chambers, so you sneak over there. When you're in there the Duke busts in in some sort of rage (not quite himself) and you hide. He begins to choke the Duchess, Alinore (have I spelt that right?) whilst shouting 'I'M SORRY LENORE'. You can then intervene and the Duke snaps out of it, the Duchess makes up that you broke into the room and orders you sent to the dungeons and lashed. She visits you and gives you a key to escape. You may think that he was shouting her name during the choking, but later in the game you find out he became Duke by sacrificing someone, not by killing the Dragon. From that you can assume that this 'Lenore' is in fact the person he sacrificed. Maybe he chose the current Duchess because their names were similar?

e: ^^^ f;b! My post is segmented in to parts though.Gestalt Intellect posted:However, I never saw this business about the duke choking the duchess and the Arisen apparently getting whipped or something. I seem to have missed all the duchess' quests and such because I ran straight into the duke's hall when I first entered the castle. Can anyone post a summary of what goes on leading to/following that event? It sounds like a big deal. Surprisingly not that big of a deal. Arousing Suspicion: Aelinore flirts with you, then her chambermaid later tells you to go meet her in her bedroom. Aelinore is all happy that she has someone to have sex with who's not a crazy rear end Duke. Duke comes to her bedroom unexpectedly with the Jester being a creepy little sex cheerleader, so you hide, and then Duke Edmun goes all crazy and starts screaming about how '[he's] sorry, Lenore!' You can then forage on the Duchess's bedroom floor to get some clothing which includes corsets and maid outfits (oh god don't make an anime maid anyone who reads this please), and you can either wait until the Duchess is choked to death or interrupt, in which case Duke snaps out of his madness and the Duchess says you were pretty much stalking and harassing her, and you get whipped. She unlocks your cell door, quest ends, jail guard don't give a gently caress. Whatever you do, this quest will make you hate the Jester even more. Duchess in Distress: Much later in the game, Aelinore's chambermaid tells you she's been taken to the Blighted Manse and needs to be rescued. You sneak in, using a guard's costume which you get to keep, and then you have implied sex with the Duchess before escaping and some royal guard people from her home nation pry her from your arms and rescue her away back to her own country. You then say "good riddance" in real life while your character makes a super-sad face. Edmun backstory spoilers (Dragon fight quest spoilers): Duke Edmun suffers from some severe PTSD poo poo because he took the dragon's deal, giving his lover Lenore up. His bouts of madness are the result of his emotional turmoil It's also why he freaks the gently caress out when you talk to him after meeting the Dragon, raving about how nobody could defeat the dragon, because admitting you killed the dragon would mean he gave up his lover lady out of fear and not necessity.

Is it possible to slightly force an item to become dragonforged by removing all other items on your person and only having one thing equipped? Or does it just randomly forge up something in your inventory?

Veyrall posted:Is it possible to slightly force an item to become dragonforged by removing all other items on your person and only having one thing equipped? Or does it just randomly forge up something in your inventory? It only forges stuff you're wearing, but no, removing everything else won't help. It's a flat percentage chance for each individual item to be forged, so you're just as likely to have everything you're wearing forged as having nothing forged. Exception being that unupgraded items won't be dragonforged except by "the" dragon and the ur-dragon, and the more upgraded your stuff is, the higher chance it has (so a 1-star weapon is less likely to be forged than a 2 or 3 star). 3-star equipment has an 18% chance. Better get grindin'.

If I recall correctly it's 0* for no upgrades, 2% for 1 star, 6% for 2 star and 18% for 3 star when you kill a drake/wyrm/wyvern and something like 33% for a 3 star item when killing the Ur-Dragon offline. edit: ^^^ Beaten like a harpy with no wings.

Yeah it does and what I like to do is throw a vortex arrow on the ground and let one loose. Vortex arrow is pretty drat funny if you use it on a wolf to see 5 of them get stuck trying to run at you only to get dragged by the one you shot it at.

A tip for people who are having trouble with golems - if you break any of the amulets while they're enraged, they'll fall over and expose that really annoying one on the bottom of their foot. They stay down for a really long time so you should have lots of time to break it before they get back up. I think you can also knock them over by shooting them in the mouth when they're charging up their laser shot - one of the "Golem tactics" books mentions that they're vulnerable there.
