Well for some reason the update killed my savegame, not sure if I want to play through the whole thing again now. At least I got to see most of the classes in action though. I'm glad to see it sold so well though, I hope they do another.

Is Xbox gold really not needed to access all the on-line features? I know it's in the OP but man, it feels too good to be true. Usually anything on-line absolutely needs Gold so I'm irrationally skeptical. Also at my local Gamestop the lady said that a PC version is listed but they don't have a release date. Is Gamestop just being their usually incompetent self or did Capcom change their minds?

Xbox gold not needed because the on-line features really only affect your game locally. And I haven't heard anything about a PC release.

It's true - Xbox Live Gold is not necessary. It might be so for games that have a synchronous, co-operative, multiplayer element, but not so for this game, because it's none of these three. Lucky, eh? I haven't heard any news of Capcom wanting to release a PC version, so maybe Gamestop is feeding you false information.

Has anyone else had a problem with sending / receiving gifts? I just started NG+ and have been giving a lot of my castoff gear to a friend's pawn. Last night I loaded her up with fully-upgraded or dragonforged gear. He hasn't received it yet. I also gifted items to a brand-new pawn from my game on another profile. None of that has shown up either.

Speedball posted:ARe there any augments that boost carrying capacity? Yep. Fighter has one that makes you able to stay in the 'light weight' category for a long while. Strider has one that makes you act as if your encumbrance is one category below what it actually is. So light weight becomes unencumbered.

When they explode it will kill the phantasm. Also, if you want to solo just throw your main pawn in the brine. No need to have it following you without weapons.

Count Uvula posted:Are you resting at an inn after sending the pawns home? Yup. So is the other guy. I've been gifting his pawn items all week, and they've always shown up inside 30 minutes before. It's been at least 12 hours since I sent the items to myself, and 24 hours since I sent him his gear. I've been running back and forth between the encampment and Cassardis and resting at each inn with no result. EDIT: There aren't a ton of posts about this issue as far as I could see. I've seen people recommending that you equip the items on the pawn, then rest at the inn before dismissing them as well as after. Other people had a theory that you could only gift gear like that X times per day or something, but it looked like those items were turned into rocks instead of disappearing. Either way, I'm starting to think I lost all those dragonforged / upgraded items. Sometimes I'll rent a random level 5 or 10 pawn and load them up with the gear I was using myself from levels 20-30. I wonder how much of that stuff ever actually got there. titties fucked around with this message at 21:11 on Jul 11, 2012 |

I've been on rank 8 assassin for what seems like ages, the last rank better be worth it. I want to go back to strider already. My main pawn is a sorcerer and that vocation also seems to have ridiculous slow growth.

Rank 9 gets you Dire Gouge, Clairvoyance, Showdown, Invisibility, Gale Harness, Masterful Kill, and Autonomy. I would only max strider to get Leg Strength. Obviously you should play what you enjoy the most but I've gotten kinda sick of strider since it's the best class to start as, and you have to get to Gran Soren to pick anything else after that. I have a hard time living without Leg Strength and Sinew so I almost always end up playing strider and fighter for a while.

But before this game I never had any messages, now there is some random Gamertag who is asking me : quote:c est toi le createur de jesus christ excellent lol Also almost nobody use La Vieille, which was expected, but she came back with five stars for her look with the comment "Super Sexy" and a whole set of low level gear, including silk underwear... I had avoided any strange pawn related things up until Gran Soren. Every name I saw was so logical that I wondered if I was even connected to live. Then, I walked toward the merchant's quarter of town and saw a huge man named DR. DRE standing there. Fun times.

Took my time and finally finished the game. Good times, but I don't think I have it in me to play it any more (although I did max out 6 professions). I feel like the only thing it really needs is content, I think all the game mechanics work pretty well as they are. Feels like there's enough weaponry to me, what feels lacking is critter types. I do appreciate that within a critter type there can be a lot of variation (like goblins, bandits) but with a bunch more monster types, and a lot more area to explore would be a huge boon to the game. Doesn't even have to be questing areas, just areas that are there like the southwest area, for exploration. More areas, more critters, and partial randomization of spawns. Oh, also a bit more difficulty, or at least make a lot of higher monster types more difficult. It felt a bit too much like 1. Nice challenge -> 2. Enough to take on tough guys -> 3. Defeat everything easily, with 1-3 happening way too quickly, and even with only one pawn.

I think Capcom should just release an 'expanded Everfall' DLC, that just adds an infinite, randomly generated post-game. Basically just keep going through rooms containing a random mix of 1-3 huge enemies, and maybe some small enemies scattered about. I think the game would benefit from making you fight multiple large enemies at once, as it is now enemies can still kill you even when you're a high level, but by the time you're fighting the 10th dragon you have the strategy down pat, and probably won't even get hit. Having a wight shooting lightning at you while you try to climb the dragon's back might add a bit of challenge.

Okay I just finished my first play through. So where is this big WTF exposition dump people were talking about? All that happened is I killed the dragon and that made the Dragonforged turn to dust and the Duke had a heart attack. Also apparently I'm in love with Ser Maximilian because I did some story quests for him???

I had a question regarding balance; is there some reason I wouldn't want to be a magic archer? The vortex shot/explosive arrow combo pretty much turns every encounter with non-epic monsters into a short, quick, and easy murder bonanza. Even with epics the explosive arrows are great for tripping/bringing down whatever by hitting for huge damage output or setting wings on fire. And the lock on, good lord that is helpful. I've only dabbled in the base classes and maxed out ranger and magic archer, but this seems like it would be hard to top, figured I'd ask for input. Game is amazing overall, personally I didn't see what the grip about the story was, just like Skyrim in that nobody gives a poo poo.

I don't know if it's just the story per se, but overall the plot and world-building are really lacking. The game has a great mechanical foundation, it's just a shame they couldn't do more with it. I don't regret buying it, but it definitely fell short of my expectations.

Maybe they'll add more in the DLC or something, but I'm happy the way things are.

The story is kind of pointless and really poorly presented for almost the whole game, then right at the end it gets awesome and I actually unironically enjoy the entire last sequence surrounding the postgame. It's just surreal in a really cool way and you start to feel like a total badass with no one to rely on but your pawns after the duke goes into treason mode, which is alright because they're all you need to take on literally everything.Squidicus posted:I had a question regarding balance; is there some reason I wouldn't want to be a magic archer? Magick archer gets the worst stat gains per level and has arguably the worst set of augments in the game, and I personally find the homing really bad at, well, actually homing. In my experience you get a lot more power out of mystic knight, ranger or assassin in the end, but magick archer lets you light yourself on fire and scuttle around on large monsters like a horrible flaming cockroach while they gently caress out and burn to death, so yes, it's still a pretty awesome class. I don't think I ever had MA arrows fail to home accurately except for the rare case where they entered a perfect orbit around the target. Did you buy the core skill that gives them better homing? I honestly couldn't tell the difference (since their accuracy seemed perfect even before I got it) but maybe it'd help.
