Inversely I think Coulson would actually be excellent in the cartoons and represents a good character to slide over. I have no strong attachment to most of the modern era shield agents. But he's dead now, so the whole thing just hurts my brain. It feels like attempts at "movie-izing" the comics just ends up making the comics harder to approach.
