Ville Valo posted:The guys who made Mermates (written by a friend, but folks here enjoyed it!) have a new webseries: The Common Cult! It's about 30-somethings with everyday problems, except they're also in a ritualistic blood cult. Fair warning, they're also pitching a Kickstarter in this first-look (which has already hit the goal I believe). I liked the premise of Mermates more and don't really get why it ended so soon. I couldn't understand how few views they all got. Not that it was ground-breaking or anything but it's free and fun to watch. This new one I don't know if the premise is as great, but it seems like they're playing the exact same characters so and I can just pretend that one dude is the merman and they just don't mention it, which makes it even weirder. Do you know if they're keeping the same youtube channel or will I have to subscribe to a new one once it officially launches?

Steve Holt! posted:Giant Bomb takes a look at the greatest Kinect game that has ever existed: I got around to watching this, it is incredible, and hilarious! Not only is the tech amazing, but they included a DUBSTEP MODE that, somehow, makes me hate dubstep just a little less. It automatically puts a robot costume on your character and puts about a million effects on it, it's great. Vinny showing off at the end what the dudes dancing to the dubstep mode looked like in real life while they were doing it was priceless. The original quick look of Happy Action Theater is pretty great, too. Includes Tim Schafer(creator/worked on Psychonauts, Day of the Tentacle, the Monkey Island series, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, etc) showing off his new game, and Patrick Klepek in a hot dog suit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPIZ5EuTRJo&hd=1

If you eat a lot of watermelon at once, you're going to piss out all the non-solids 20 minutes later anyways since watermelon is a powerful diuretic.

I case anybody doesn't know, you can go frame-by-frame in a video with the left and right arrow keys. I think they recently implemented this, unless I've been missing this feature for a while.

ThaGhettoJew posted:(Warning: Vertical video syndrome) I wonder if people that do this are partially retarded. More to the point, I wonder if they upload it to YouTube, see it and go "oh, I screwed that up, I won't be doing that again!" or if they think "hurrrrrrrr, YouTube messed up my movie!" or if they try to turn the whole computer sideways, then the monitor, then get angry and smash them both with a hammer or something. It can't be unfair to use vertical videos as a measure of intelligence (or lack thereof), right?

Politicians say stupid things all of the time, but this one wins the trophy. Here is a candidate in Missouri for the U.S. Senate who claims that women can't get pregnant from rape. "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." Expect to hear this quote all over the place soon. And he's winning the race, 50% to 41%. Edit: It has been pointed out that he, Representative Akin, currently sits on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
