i like Riff Raff, mainly because even though Kool Keith is still making music, Riff seems to be out-weirding him at the moment. It does indeed have a lot to do with his image, also.

I don't get this whole "Riff Raff can't rap" thing. he rhymes words, does lots of multis, and sometimes even chops his own lines.

In comparison to a high selling rapper of the day:
Riff is more lyrical than Rick Ross, and people give Ross more of a pass than Riff Raff even though Riff is definitely a better rapper.
Ross isn't some syllable game master; he just finds and pays for good beats. Most of what Ross says isn't memorable, but at least with Riff Raff you can get a "did he just say that"? response from at least half of his lines.

Riff does owe a lot to the likes of Big Pokey or Big Tuck, but still, I'm cool with that.

What are peoples thoughts on TKO Capone?

Ross is so much better a rapper than riff faff I can only think you're trolling. Riff raff sounds like a dude who has trouble putting basic English sentences together.

Also TKO Capone is interesting. Dude's made some stuff he admits is pandering, but he's got some actual skill. Haven't heard anything from him in awhile though

Lol dude shut the hell up. Riff Raff can rap, does rap, and his best raps are better and more interesting/charismatic than Ross' best raps. Rick Ross does do pretty well at maintaining a stable standard of mediocrity, so Riff's worst combined with his image stand out more. Rick Ross' latest album was completely unremarkable besides an OK feature here and there.

It's obvious you're not a Riff Raff fan but Just Chill, Bro.

So are there any other rappers that rap in a maniacal fashion similar to Gunplay that I should know about? On occasion Meek Mill seems to channel the same kind of insanity, though not as often, at least lately.

Actually Riff Raff is a joke and too many words have been wasted talking about some coked out Texan.

Riff Raff is really good at finding words that rhyme with each other (and hooks I guess). If he could up his coherence game 600% he might actually be a good rapper. Rap game Pootie Tang.

In real rap news, Styles P's new Diamond Life mixtape is dope, this track with Trae and Fred the Godson is a stand out: http://youtu.be/7lCqF5AbNVY. There's a joint with Pusha and French Montana that's pretty hot too.

I hope this thing gets universally panned and everyone forgets about these dudes. They're super arrogant for having never dropped anything other than guest verses and are all pretty terrible at rapping.

At least Rocky has charisma, his crew is straight garbage though. The only one worth a poo poo is Ty Beats, all his beats have been pretty nice (Gotham City on this is pretty weak tho)

Like, I wish more dudes who were young rapped like Joey Bada$$ (and his crew, they actually sound decent unlike some...). Dude is wild, and I hope they pick up some steam. Need some balance with all the insane amount of good production out now. And it's also kinda strange hearing like old 90's NY style still being made by dudes who didn't start then.

to be fair to keef, i think he held it down pretty well for someone who doesn't freestyle and wasn't expecting to have to freestyle going into that interview.

I think the best selectors were Killer Mike, Danny Brown, Curren$y and the Clipse one (which doesn't seem to be online anymore). Its a fairly entertaining series that occasionally meets its goal of figuring out how and why rapper pick certain beats.
