This used to happen to me a lot as well. It helps to have a good build and a good gun to go with it. Ask in this thread or check some of the guides in the OP for ideas. Mostly though it has a lot to do with the stupid scoring system. You get a lot of points for the killing blow regrdless of how much damage you have done to an enemy prior and it really sucks for support and non burst damage characters.

To be honest as long as you aren't going down a lot and are doing objectives, using consumables at the right time and reviving people I wouldnt pay too much attention to your score. You're already better than like 90% of the player base.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I usually play support roles and feel more comfortable and actually do better than if I was trying to wipe out every enemy on the map before my teammates. I didn't know the scoring system was that bad; I mean I noticed it was a bit outweighed but not that poo poo.

I'm not sure, I only use Shockwave as a stagger to let my BatSent reload or get out of tight spots. Although the challenge says I'm at 14% of the necessary points so far... :tali:

Points are somewhat skewed towards last hits and combo primers, but it's not like a bad player is going to score 100k just by standing there. Every class has the potential to deal lots of damage if you know what you're doing, and even traditional "support" kits like Batarian Sentinel or Salarian Engineer can dominate in the hands of the right player. It all comes down to basically three things: 1) class synergy, 2) not dying, and 3) not lagging horribly.

If you're not doing a lot of damage, your class just might not be a good fit for the group -- this is mostly irrelevant before Platinum, but it will affect your ability to combo powers and thus feel more effective. See what the rest of your group is doing -- if they have lots of techy classes, pick an Engineer or Sentinel. If they're all space wizards, roll with a biotic. Enemies on Bronze/Silver have such low health though that if you're not familiar with the spawns on each map your allies will have probably already cleared them out before you can get there, which might be another reason why you're not doing well.

If biotics are your thing Asari Justicar with offensive bubble is a solid choice. Or Fury, who is a powerhouse on every difficulty. Both work best on Plat with other biotics though so make a note of your team composition. I'd equip both with your hurricane IV (you lucky SOB :argh:) and maybe an acolyte for boss shield stripping.

Yeah cluster grenades are pretty powerful after the recent grenade buff but the bubble is more of a team oriented skill which is needed on Platinum especially.

If you spec it offensively and are smart about placement it can really help your team. It debuffs everything that walks through it, especially armor, and primes for biotic explosions. Place it at a choke point and watch the kills and assists rack up as stuff inside just melts under focused fire. I also like the survivablility of the Justicar. Its nice to be able to take some punishment as an adept for once.

LeastActionHero

There are very few people who are prepared to take advantage of an ally's bubble. In comparison, cluster grenades detonate everything. Try using cluster grenades after a Paladin snap freezes a mob, or while a Vorcha is spraying everything with flamer.

I'm aware of all that, but with the changes that force you to move around the map much more I find the Bubble's team-buffing situational at best. Setting it up at choke points is good, but is also usually a "win more" situation unless I'm the only Biotic on the team.

Well they are both viable strategies. Admittedly you need some cooperation from team mates which is by no means a given but the Justicar is still a real asset and can make a good team great, even if you move around a lot. Bubble has around a 2 second cooldown at 200% recharge so you can cast it everywhere if needed. Besides on Platinum which I was talking about originally you need at least one support character and running around will often get you separated and killed as enemies spawn all around you and you get caught in a crossfire. Holding one area and slowly falling back is often the most viable strategy.

I've been using radius at rank 4 since the patch and haven't had any issues yet. I've been using the human adept quite a bit as well. If you skip radius and take the range evo on shockwave it's not uncommon for the power to miss since it has a travel time and always fires in a straight line even if the enemy moves.

I like glacier for soloing since it goes quicker. Capping objectives can be tough on Gold though. Big maps can be lovely for retrieval and escorts though. I'm thinking FBW might be a good map for soloing now since it's a medium size with good mix of cover and it flows well.

My only problem with glacier is that it (used to be) best to play cerberus but with the addition of dragoons, it makes 4-point objectives impossible. Since the map is so small, they'll get from spawn to the objective before you can finish defusing and their attack will knock you off.

They'll even just smash randomly at the objective if you're cloaked.

A string of awful FBW/Gold/Collectors lobbies failing on wave 3 is what prompted me to make that post.

The new White is nice for the most part, except if you get a device objective on the new, completely exposed lower platform where they moved an ammo box to. I like that there's more room to maneuver but the scale of the interiors feels off somehow.

I haven't run into any public Glacier games since the DLC hit so I soloed it myself to see the changes and they're pretty drat awful. I get why they blocked off the room of shame, even though it was a nice and risky option for retreating, but removing the cover on the ramps that lead to the basement is mind boggling.
